To the Planning Commission,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed 447-unit residential development at the Festival Shopping Center. As a
resident of Anaheim Hills since 1990, I have witnessed firsthand the increasing wildfire thre ats our community face s every Santa
Ana wind season.
My opposition is based on the following critical safety concerns:
• Evacuation Bottlenecks: During past wildfire events, such as the fires in Corona, Santa Ana Canyon Road became the only viable
escape route for thousands of residents. I have experienced being trapped in gridlock during an e vacuation order; adding
nearly 450 more households to this specific corridor would make future evacuations dangerously slow, if not impossible.
• High Fire Hazard Zone: Our area is threatened by fire "every single year." Increasing the population de nsity in a high-risk zone,
where westward movement is blocked by the fire front, creates a significant public safety liability.
We cannot prioritize high-density development over the lives and safety of current re sidents. I urge you to de ny this proposal.
Sincerely,
Hsiu Yen Shu
