Oposition to the Festival Center – Public Safety
Evacuations and other Concerns
Mayor and City Council,
I am writing to formally oppose the proposed Festival Center High Density Housing Project due to unresolved
Public safety and evacuations concerns.
This area already suffers from limited access and egress and is located within an Extremely High Fire
Hazzard Safety Zone.
Evacuation is currently known as a mayor problem, and the City of Anaheim has not demonstrated that the
Festival Center High Density Housing project will have improved evacuation safety for existing and future
Residents.
Traffic is a major issue, with constant gridlocks that will become significantly worse if more than a thousand
additional cars are introduced to the area, particularly during emergency situations such as fires.
Granting approval for a significant development without an established and effective evacuation plan may
compromise the safety of both current and prospective residents.
The unproven method of evacuation by zone is just that unproven and questionable since fire under windy
conditions can propagate much faster than one can evacuate.
We need to do this the right way in the right order first fix the infrastructure for evacuation and safety and then
add new development projects.
There are currently eighteen registered sex offenders in the 92808-zip code, and adding over four hundred rental
units could increase this number.
For these reasons, I urge the city of Anaheim not to approve the Festival Center Project until every issue related
to evacuations, emergency planning, and traffic has been fully and transparently addressed.
I really hope city official side with residents and not big businesses developers that all they care about is money.
