A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM GRANTING VARIANCE NO. 2417.

WHEREAS, after a request for variance by Standard Oil
of California, OWner; American Permit Service, Agent, was received,
a public hearing before the Planning Commission of the City of
Anaheim was held upon due and proper notice as a result of which
Variance No. 2417 was denied covering the following described
property:
That portion of Lot 8 of the Anaheim Homestead Tract,
in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of
California, as per map recorded in Book 26, page 10,
of Miscellaneous Records, in the Office of the County
Recorder of Los Angeles County, California, described
as follows:
Beginning at a point on the West line of the southeast
quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 9, Township
4 South, Range 10 West, a portion of said West line
being the West line of said Lot 8, North 00 16' 55" West,
528.94 feet from the center line of Manchester Avenue,
80.00 feet wide, described in a deed to the State of
California, recorded in Book 743, page 18, of Official
Records, in the Office of the County Recorder of Orange
County; thence North 890 43' 05" East 30.00 feet and
North 840 08' 35" East 25.09 feet to the northeast
corner of the land described in Parcel 6 in the deed to
said State, recorded October 21, 1955, in Book 3253,
page 442 of Official Records of Orange County, said point
being the true point of beginning; thence North 850 12'
45" East 64.90 feet along the southerly line of the land
described as Parcel 5 in said deed to the beginning of a
non-tangent curve concave southwesterly, having a radius
of 232.00 feet, a radial line through said point bears
North 150 54' 35" East; thence southeasterly 106.61
feet along said curve through a central angle of 260 19'
42"; thence South 470 45' 43" East 115.12 feet to the
South line of said Lot 8; thence South 890 25' 20" West
159.05 feet along said South line to the easterly corner
of the land described as said Parcel 6; thence North
730 46' 16" West 43.39 feet along the northeasterly
line of said Parcel 6 to an "angle point"; thence North
330 20' 15" West 75.15 feet along said northeasterly
line to an "angle point"; thence North 00 16' 55" West
50.00 feet to the true point of beginning.
WHEREAS, thereafter, within the time prescribed by law
an interested party or the City Council on its own motion caused
the review of said Planning Commission action at a public hearing
noticed and held as prescribed by law and as a result thereof the
City Council does hereby make the following findings:
1.
That there are special circumstances applicable to
the property, including size, shape, topography,
location or surroundings, which do not apply to
other property under identical zoning classifica-
tion in the vicinity.

That, because of special circumstances shown in
(1) above, strict application of the zoning code
deprives the property of privileges enjoyed by
other property under identical zoning classifica-
tion in the vicinity.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anal).eim that a conditional zoning variance be, and
the same is hereby granted, permitting the construction of two
lighter box signs in conjunction with an existing free standing
sign on the property hereinbefore described with waivers of the
following sections of the Anaheim Municipal Code:
Section 18.62.090(B-l)
Minimum distance between free-
standing signs (300 feet
required; 23 feet proposed)
Maximum number of free-standing
signs (3 proposed; 1 permitted)
Minimum sign height (8 feet
required; 6-1/2 feet proposed)
That said variance be granted subject to the f~llowing condition:
Section 18.62.090(B-l)
Section 18.62.090(B-2)
That subject property shall be developed substantially
in conformance with plans and specifications on file
with the City of Anaheim, marked Exhibits Nos. 1 and 2.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cit.y Council hereby
reserves the right to revoke such variance permit for good
cause or failure of said owner, its successors ot assigns to
comply with the Anaheim Municipal Code and regulations and the
conditions herein. Said variance is granted for the term
prescribed by the Anaheim Municipal Code unless otherwise speci-
fied herein.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 3rd day of October, 1972.
