To the Anahiem city Council for cons ideration, The technology of chicken keeping has changed over the years and the food supply has been threatened fairly recently with Covid and now wars . It is important to have s ome s emblance of food Security wherever that’s pos s ible. During Covid, I had a flock of five birds and I was able to keep them for over five years without my neighbors knowing. Becaus e I kept the coop as a carbonaceous diaper. In other words , I us ed mulch or wood s havings to abs orb the nitrogen caus ed or s ourced from the chicken manure eliminating the s mell. I petitioned to my city with s imilar arguments and they agreed with me in that we s hould be allowed to keep a decent number of chickens on the property. If in fact it would not pos e a nuis ance to other residences , and it does not. Chickens are not very loud and they only make nois e when they lay an egg. It is les s offens ive than a dog barking throughout the day by far. My city changed their animal, keeping codes to allow for chickens without obtaining a permit and up to 10 chickens with a permit even on RD 4.5 res idential zoning. It has been nice having 10 chickens to get about eight eggs on average every day. Pleas e cons ider allowing the res idents of Anahiem, the freedom and liberty to pursue what makes them happy without affecting the people around them. It is abs olutely pos s ible, and it is quite eas y. Michael Sherman 714-642-7245 Sent from my iPhone
