As I am unable to attend the City Council tomorrow, I would like to express my opposition to the
project at the Festival Center. We remember the past fires in our area and the difficulties in
evacuation. Santa Ana Canyon Road and the 91 freeway already operate under heavy
congestion. This is about evacuation times and every additional vehicle matters. We appreciate all
measures the city of Anaheim has taken, but the evacuation plan is not enough. Also, the wildfire
evacuation study being conducted by the city is not complete. Traffic issues must be addressed
before more housing is built.
There is also the question as to whether labor negotiations influenced the approval earlier this
month.
I understand that the city needs housing, but it shouldn't be built in a place where safe evacuation is compromised.
Please prioritize the safety of the people who already live here.
