I am a res ident of Ana heim Hills , and I chos e this community becaus e it felt like a s afe pla c e to ra i s e my family. I ha ve two young
children, and the thought of trying to eva cuate them during a wildfire is s omething I take very s eri ous ly.
I drive thes e roa ds every da y, and they alrea dy back up under normal conditions . Knowi ng tha t evac ua tion from thi s area can alrea dy
ta ke hours is a la rming on its own. Adding a project that brings in over 1,000 a dditional res i dents a nd s ig nifi cantl y more tra ffi c wi l l
make a n a lready da ng erous s itua tion wors e.
What is mos t concerning is tha t this is not s peculative—the project’s own environmenta l report a cknowledg es i ncrea s ed eva cuati on
times . That mea ns the ris k is known a hea d of time, yet the project is s till being cons idered.
I am not oppos ed to hous ing, but this is the wrong pla ce for high-dens ity development. Approving thi s project would mean knowing ly
increas ing evacua tion ris k for exis ting res idents and fa milies .
For tha t rea s on, I s trong ly urg e you to vote no on the Shea /Fes tiva l Center apartment project.
