Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
I’m a resident reaching out ahead of the upcoming council discussion on the chicken ordinance.
I’ve attached a simple comparison showing how nearby cities like Buena Park, La Mirada, and Orange allow 4–6 hens with reasonable setbacks.
Buena Park even updated their ordinance in 2024 to allow 6 hens with only a 10 ft setback.
Anaheim’s current rules are significantly more restrictive than surrounding cities, and I hope the council will consider modernizing the ordinance to
better reflect current standards in Orange County and SoCal.
A small update (such as allowing 5–6 hens with reasonable setbacks) would make a meaningful difference for residents while still maintaining
neighborhood compatibility.
