OLDER ADULTS COMMISSION
January 15, 2026; 2:00 p.m.

AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Barnes called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chair Barnes led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Barnes presented the minutes of the November 20, 2025,
meeting. Vice -Chair Brio made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner
Noteboom. The minutes were approved with all ayes.
4. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION:
a. Melody Marler, City of Anaheim resident from District 3, shared concerns about the lack of
reserved seating at the Nutcracker holiday tree lighting event in December.
b. Anaheim resident Bob Sanchez was introduced by Brian Chwan as the next Older Adults
Commissioner from District 1. He will receive orientation and begin his term at the February
meeting.
5. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Focus Posts for Social Media — Vice -Chair Brio noted that he receives a lot of feedback asking
what there is to do in the East Anaheim area, and he would like to interview Christine Hunt and
perhaps the Oak Canyon Nature Center and post it on the Anaheim Hills Buzz, which he called a
focus post for social media. They have submitted this request to the City's PIO and are awaiting
word back.
7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Commissioner Noteboom noted that the meeting hosted by Council
Member Kurtz at the Library was held on September 10t", and she has heard no follow-up since
then. Brian Chwan noted that there should be an update closer to Council Member Kurtz's open
house in February.
8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
a. Commissioner Rose reported that the Club is working on the senior boutique, which will be held
on May 2nd. Chair Barnes mentioned that she would like to see food daily food distribution at
the Senior Center. Maureen noted the kitchen at the Center doesn't have the space or the right
configuration to be used for meal preparation, but she is working with the USDA on a project for
the distribution of boxed food at more sites. The commissioners discussed ideas for getting
meals and food for older adults.
