Re: SUPPORT—Anaheim Contigo Immigration Legal Defense Component
Dear Mayor Aitken, City Council:
I write to express my strong support for the City Council’s consideration of establishing
an immigration legal defense component within the Anaheim Contigo program, including
the proposed funding in the range of $50,000 to $100,000.
There is a clear and growing need for immigration-related legal services in our
community. Addressing this need is not only a matter of legal access, but of protecting
families, preserving stability, and ensuring every resident is afforded due process and
dignity.
This proposed partnership with qualified nonprofit legal providers represents a
meaningful investment in the well-being of Anaheim residents. It is an opportunity for
the City to lead with compassion, responsibility, and commitment to those who call
Anaheim home.
I respectfully urge the Council to approve this item and move forward with urgency to
implement this critical expansion of services. Thank you for your leadership and your
continued commitment to the people of Anaheim.
