CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on June 4, 2026, the regular meeting of the Anaheim
Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Linda Newby at 4:32 p.m.
PRESENT: Rose Chen, Jackie Filbeck, Linda Newby, Amanda Wortman
ABSENT: Elia Renteria-Garcia
STAFF: Audrey Lujan — City Librarian, Jennifer Foxx — Management Assistant II,
Jon Andersen — Principal Librarian
I. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The May book sale made
over $525.00. Their next sale is June 19, 2026. The Friends are sponsoring refreshments for
the Patriotic Celebration by NOCE's Chime Choir at Central Library on July 18, 2026. They
are currently recruiting new board members as two of their very active members recently
moved out of the area.
B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: Their next Flash Sale is June 23-24,
2026 and will include books, puzzles, and collectibles.
C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: Library staff presented their
funding wish list to the Foundation Board for Fiscal Year 2026/2027. The Board will vote
on funding at their June meeting.
II, APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE MAY 11, 2026, MEETING: The minutes were approved as
presented.
III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
IV, NEW BUSINESS:
A. SUMMER READING PROGRAM: Jon Andersen presented information on this year's
Summer Reading Program. The program is being sponsored by Public Works and the theme
is "Plant a Seed, Read! Keep Anaheim Clean!" Many of the programs being offered will
have a focus on recycling. Lunch at the Library will be offered at several Anaheim Public
Library locations funded by a grant from the California State Library.

V. INFORMATION
A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
• The partnership with AESD to support literacy for students, maximize the use of our
APT, online resources, and raise reading scores has been successful. The Library is
offering AESD students a virtual badge when they enroll in the Summer Reading
Program that they can show their teacher when they return to school for a prize.
• Audrey recognized outgoing Library Board Members Linda Newby and Rose Chen for
their years of service and dedication to Anaheim Public Library.
B. BUDGET: The Library is receiving additional funding for the Haskett Branch Library roof,
Sunkist Branch Library HVAC, and RFID Tags.
VI. ACTIVITY REPORTS
A. STATISTIC SANFOGRAPHIC S/ACTIVITY REPORTS: Amanda noted that the Virtual
Statistics report needs a correction in the previous year column.
VII. BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER AMANDA WORTMAN: Appreciates Linda and Rose's mentorship and recognized
Library staff for AnaCon and making it a community -building event.
MEMBER JACKIE FILBECK: Thanked Linda and Rose for what they taught her from their time on
the Board and helping to make the Anaheim Public Library the premier library system that it is. She
also congratulated Library staff on receiving the 2026 American Library Association PR Xchange.
Jackie encouraged everyone to see the display of AESD students' art in the Central Library
Children's Room and thanked the East Anaheim Branch Library for giving a wonderful tour to a
local Girl Scout Troop.
VICE CHAIR ROSE CHEN: Shared that she learned a lot from her time on the Library Board,
including things about different cultures, lifestyles, and more. She greatly admires library staff and
Audrey's leadership style and is proud of their accomplishments.
CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Thanked everyone for her time on the Board for what it has given her and
is proud of Anaheim Public Library. She appreciates that Audrey has always been open to her ideas.
Linda was impressed to see that Founders' Park hosts weddings.
VIII. MISCELLANEOUS
A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be July 13, 2026, at the Central Library.
B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Newby adjourned the meeting at 5:42 p.m.
