RESOLUTION NO. 76R-507
A RESOLU'T'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIOiNS
OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ORANGE UNIFIED SCHOOL
DISTRICT, THE CITY OF ORANGE, THE CITY OF
VILLA PARK PERTAINING TO SHARING THE COSTS OF
TENNIS INSTRUCTION IN SAID SC: -TOOL DISTRICT AND
AUTHORIZING THE 111YOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXE-
CUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the State of California has enacted legislation
designed to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of
the people or the State and to cultivate the development of good
citizenship by provisions for adequate programs of community recrea-
tion; and, further, to authorize cities and public school districts
having powers to provide recreation to organize, promote and conduct
such programs of community recreation as will contribute to the at-
tainment of general educational and recreational objectives for
children and adults of the State, which legislation is contained in
the Education Code of the State of California, Sections 16651 to
16655; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the parties to permit the
Orange Unified School District to provide instructional classes in
the sport of tennis during the summer vacation months, but at such
hours as not to interfere with the use of the District's tennis
courts during the summer vacation by members of the general public,
and is further the intent of the parties that District obtain reiya-
bursement from the State of California for the cost of providing
such instruction in order that the net effect will be to rsinimize
the cost to the Cities of Orange, Anaheim. and Villa -Park in manag-
ing the summer instructional tennis program; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the parties, by an Agreement
this day submitted, the terms and conditions of which are satis-
factory to the City of Anaheim, to accomplish the aforementioned ob-
jectives of minimizing cost in providing tennis program. instruction
while, at the same time, preserving to the Cities of Orah-gZ, Anaheim
and Villa Park the use of the school tennis courts for the use of
the residents and citizens of said cities during the summer season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the terms and conditions of an Agreement
with the Orange Unified School District, the City of Orange and
the City of Villa Park pertaining to sharing of the costs of tennis
instruction in said Orange Unified School District be, and the same
are hereby, apprcved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be,
and they are hereby, authorized to execute said Agreement on behalf
of the City of Anaheim.
