CALL TO ORDER: Chair Clark called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Couture led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None. 4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None. 5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Clark presented the April 22, 2026 Minutes for changes or corrections. Commissioner Ryan made a motion to accept the Minutes, seconded by Commissioner Couture. The motion was passed with six votes in favor. Chair Clark presented the May 27, 2026 Minutes for changes or corrections. Vice Chair Martin made a motion to accept the Minutes, seconded by Commissioner Cook. The motion was passed with five votes in favor and one abstention. Chair Clark accepted both Minutes. 6. REPORTS: a) Park Ranger Report — May: Anaheim Sporn presented the report and began with an update on recruitment, noting that two new Rangers have been onboarded, which correlates with an increase in patrols and patron counts. She reported that the department is assisting Anaheim Public Utilities by patrolling the Walnut Canyon Reservoir and providing advisements regarding fishing and e-bike use at the facility. Anaheim highlighted that this month's positive reporting category was dog walkers. She provided Commissioners with flyers created by the Anaheim Police Department, used for community education on e-bike usage and regulations, noting their effectiveness in reaching patrons. Lastly, she reported one current vacancy for a full- time Coordinator position, which is expected to be filled by the next meeting. Questions were answered regarding Park Ranger vacancies and retention and coyote sighting patterns. a) Recreation, Human & Neighborhood Services Activity Report — April/Mav: Anaheim Sporn presented the report, highlighting the annual Children's Festival hosted by the Muzeo in partnership with the City, which brought art and creative activities to the community's youth. She then provided an overview of the annual Cinco de Mayo event which was hosted at Center Greens for the second year. She showcased that following the completion of the park improvement project, the S.T.A.R.S program has reopened their Rio Vista Park site on April 22 and is now utilizing the newly renovated space. She then highlighted the Senior Appreciation event held in partnership with Congressman Lou Correa at Center Greens, followed by several Day of the Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes June 24, 2026 Page 2 Child celebrations held at the department's various Family Resource Centers and in collaboration with afterschool programming to support neighborhood strengthening. Questions were answered regarding which parks are most visited by older adults and the materials used for walking paths. b) Parks Capital Project Progress Report: Ana Straabe presented the report, beginning with an update on the La Palma Park Improvements project, noting that it is currently in the design phase and will soon progress to the plan check phase in collaboration with the Public Works and Planning and Building Departments, a process expected to take several months. She presented the color palette selected for the upcoming facilities as well as the landscaping plans. She then provided an update on the La Palma Water Treatment Facility project, which will become an educational space utilized by Anaheim Public Utilities, informing the Commission that the project was bid out to on -call contractors and is expected to progress throughout the summer. Lastly, she highlighted the completed resurfacing project at the Sage Park basketball court and play area. Questions were answered regarding the Meadow Park play area design, aquatic activities at the OC River Walk, the multi -use sports court at La Palma Park, and the bidding process and construction timeline for River Park. 7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Anaheim Sporn provided an update and overview on programming related to technology education for older adults. Kamila Rodriguez provided Commissioners with correspondence received at City Hall, sent by one of the City's athletic field user groups, Premier Girls Fastpitch. Anaheim Sporn highlighted the various summer concert series taking place this season as well as the upcoming 4th of July event at Peralta Canyon Park. 8. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Clark adjourned the meeting at 6:45 p.m.
