A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
OF A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH ANAHEIM UNION
HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT IN CONNECTION WITH THE
JOINT FINANCING AND CONSTRUCTION OF TWO MULTI-
PURPOSE GYNMASIUMS AT SYCAMORE AND DALE JUNIOR
HIGH SCHOOLS, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the State of California has enacted
legislation designed to promote and preserve the health
and general welfare of the people of the State to cultivate
the development of good citizenship by provisions for
adequate programs of community recreation; and
WHEREAS, the said legislation authorizes cities
and public school districts having powers to provide
recreation to organize, promote, and conduct such programs
of community recreation as will contribute to the attainment
of general educational and recreational objectives for
children and adults of the State; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim
Union High School District propose to enter into an agreement
for the design, construction, and operation of two multi-
purpose gymnasiums located at Dale Jr. High School, 900 South
Dale Street, and Sycamore Jr. High School, 1801 East Sycamore
Street, Anaheim, California; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and Anaheim Union
High School District desire that the gymnasiums be operated
in such a manner as to be beneficial to the students attend-
ing Anaheim Union High School District schools and also be
beneficial to the residents of the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Union
High School District have determined that said gymnasiums
can adequately serve both needs of the District's students and
the residents of the City; and
WHEREAS, Title I, Division 7, Chapter 5, commencing
with Section 6500 of the California Government Code provides
for the joint exercise of powers by local governmental
entities; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Anaheim and
Anaheim Union High School District to jointly finance the
construction of said gymnasiums for their mutual advantage;
and

WHEREAS, an agreement has been prepared for the
purpose of exercising such joint powers in order to finance
the construction of, and operate said gymnasiums; and
WHEREAS, the terms and conditions of said agreement
are acceptable to the City Council of the City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the terms and
conditions of said agreement are hereby approved and
accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City
Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to
execute said agreement on behalf of the City Council of the
City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 7th day of June 1977.
