A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM ACCEPTING A GIFT OF $10,000 TO
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM FROM DR. AND MRS. MAXWELL
L. ROSTON TO BE USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ESTABLISHING THE MICHAEL L. ROSTON MEMORIAL
FUND. UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS HEREINAFTER
SET FORTH.
WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Maxwell L. Roston wish to
establish the Michael L. Roston Memorial Fund in memory of
their son, Michael L. Roston; and
WHEREAS, in order to establish said Memorial Fund,
Dr. and Mrs. Roston desire to make a gift to the City of
Anaheim in the amount of $10,000, and such other funds that
may be donated from time to time, to be used for the purposes
upon the terms and conditions hereinafter specified; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine
that it would be for the advantage and the best interest of
the City of Anaheim and the citizens and residents thereof
to accept said gift and to establish the Michael L. Roston
Memorial Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that an initial gift in the amount of
$10, tendered to the City by Dr. and Mrs. Roston for the
purposes set forth herein, and the same is hereby, accepted
upon the following terms and conditions, to wit:
1. That the amount of $10,000 and such other, funds
that may be donated from time to time, shall be given to the
City of Anaheim for the purpose of establishing the Michael L.
Roston Literary Awards, and presenting such awards on an
annual basis to those worthy individuals selected in accor-
dance with rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards to be
set by the Anaheim Public Library Board.
2. That the Anaheim Public Library Board shall
administer the funds and shall present literary awards pursu-
ant to the rules, regulations, guidelines and standards which
they shall enact subsequent to the effective date of this
resolution.
3. That the Anaheim Public Library Board is authorized
to, and shall, deposit the principal sum in an interest
bearing insured account in a financial institution account
having the legal authority to conduct business in the State of
California, and that the interest from such account shall be
available for said annual literary awards.

4. That such gift shall be in perpetuity subject to
the purposes and the terms and conditions hereof.
5. That in the event the principal and interest for
any reason cannot be used for such literary awards, then the
entire amount of principal and interest shall revert to the
Anaheim Public Library, and the principal invested and its
interest therefrom to be used specifically for (1) the
purchase of special children's books and materials of merit;
(2) the purchase of capital items of lasting value for the
Euclid Branch Library; or (3) the funding of children's
programing including, but not limited to, story hours, puppet
shows, book reviews, authors' presentations, and theatrical
productions, all of the above suitably identified in memory
of Michael L. Roston; and in no event shall it be deposited
into the City General Fund or be used for any City purpose
other than those listed above.
