A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE AND FILE A BICYCLE,
PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES CLAIM APPLICATION
PURSUANT TO S.B. 821 WITH THE SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS
FOR FUNDING OF BICYCLE TRAILS IN THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, in 1973, the California State Legislature
amended the Transportation Development Act (S.B. 325) by
passage of S.B. 821 which made 2% of S.B. 325 funds available
to the cities and counties for facilities provided for the
exclusive use by pedestrians and bicycles; and
WHEREAS, in 1974, the California State Legislature
passed S.B. 2205 which requires the Regional Transportation
Agency (SCAG) to allocate said bicycle and Pedestrian funds
pursuant to a priority list for such facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of
Governments has approved a procedure for establishing a
priority list to meet the bicycle and pedestrian facility
development needs for each county; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Environmental Management
Agency FAU Technical Review Committee has submitted a
Preliminary Project Proposal Application and Bicycle, Pedes-
trian Facility Claim S.B. 821 form to the City of Anaheim;
and
WHEREAS, said Preliminary Project Proposal Application
and Bicycle, Pedestrian Facility Claim S.B. 821 has been pre-
pared and reviewed by the City Council of the City of Anaheim
and the City Council desires and is willing to participate in
the proposed project for the construction of bicycle facility
improvements in the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
desires to authorize the City Manager of the City of Anaheim
to execute and file said Bicycle, Pedestrian Facilities Claim
S.B. 821 with the Southern California Association of
Governments Transportation Planning. Agency in order to request
S.B. 821 facility funds for said project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of Anaheim does hereby express its desire and
willingness to participate in the proposed project for the
construction of bicycle facility improvements pursuant to
S.B. 821 and the Southern California Association of Government's
procedure as submitted to the City by the Orange County
Environmental Management Agency.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the
City of Anaheim be, and he is hereby authorized, to execute and
file on behalf of the City of Anaheim a Bicycle, Pedestrian
Facility Claim S.B. 821 with the Southern California
Association of Governments Environmental Management Agency.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
