A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AND ORANGE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
PROVIDING FOR A JOINT PROGRAM OF COMMUNITY
RECREATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and Orange Unified School
District desire to promote and preserve the health and general
welfare of the people of the City of Anaheim and the Orange
Unified School District, and to cultivate and develop good citizen-
ship by providing for an adequate program of community recreation
and to conduct such a program of community recreation as will
contribute to the attainment of general education and recreational
objectives for the children and adults of said School District
within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City and said School District desire to
cooperate with each other to carry out the provisions of Chapter
4, Division 12 of the Education Code of the State of California,
and to that end enter into an agreement with each other to
organize, promote and conduct a joint program of community recre-
ation to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of
the children and people of said School District within the City;
and
WHEREAS, said parties wish to continue a joint program
of community recreation; and
WHEREAS, in principle, the Anaheim joint recreation
program (Orange Unified School District and the City) is designed
to complement what is already being done in the schools and in
the community and to provide new programs and activities which
would enrich the recreational life of the community for all ages.
A. It does not assume certain responsibilities which
the Schools are doing which are traditional school
sponsored and which have some recreation elements.
B. It does not assume responsibility for recreation
programs which are being taken care of under other
plans.
C. It is thought of as a service which will add to
what others are doing and provide additional recre-
ational opportunities to meet the ever increasing
leisure needs of all ages.
The financial participation by the City and said School
District is set up to provide an overall community recreation
program and not the School's participation to be used for just
children and youth and the City's participation for all others.
The budget distribution and the program is based on a joint
recreation service for the whole community; and
WHEREAS, a form of agreement has this day been submitted
to the City Council to be made and entered into by and between
the parties, providing for a joint program of community recreation
upon the terms and conditions therein set forth, which agreement
the City Council finds would be in the best interests of the City
and should be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim, that the agreement this day submitted to the
City Council to be made and entered into by and between the City
of Anaheim and Orange Unified School District, providing for a
joint program of community recreation to promote and preserve the
health and general welfare of the children and adults of said
School District within the City, upon the terms and conditions,
and for the sums set forth in said agreement, be, and the same is
hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be,
and they are hereby authorized to execute said agreement for and
on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 2 of May, 1968.
