1968-213WHEREAS, the Government Code of the State of California
authorizes the destruction of city records upon the approval of
the legislative body of the city, and with the written consent of
the City Attorney, provided that said records do not fall within
certain specified categories; and
WHEREAS, the Utility Accounts Manager has requested
authority to destroy certain documents which do not fall within
said categories; and
WHEREAS, many of the documents in the following list
were prepared on a date at least five years prior to the date of
this resolution; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned documents of an age of at
least five years, as well as the documents of an age less than
five years, are occupying space sorely needed by the Division of
Customer Service of the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the Utility Accounts Manager of the City of
Anaheim has determined that none of the aforementioned documents,
regardless of age, has sufficient value to justify retention in
its original form; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney hereby gives his written
consent to the destruction of the documents listed hereunder
because many of these documents are copies and do not constitute
official public records of the City of Anaheim and the others
which are originals are not official public records and can be
destroyed as the need for them no longer exists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the following records are no longer
required by the City and should be destroyed in order to commence
to conserve storage space in the City offices, to wit:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper official of the,
City having custody of the above designated documents shall be
and he is hereby authorized to destroy said documents in a lawful
manner; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon destruction of the
foregoing documents, a certificate of destruction shall be exe-
cuted, as to the documents destroyed, and the original thereof
filed in the office of the City Clerk, together with a copy of
this resolution.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 16th day of April, 1968.
