A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM DECLARING AND DETERMINING THAT THE
INSTALLATION OF AN AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM
AT LA PALMA PARK MAY BE PERFORMED BETTER AND
MORE ECONOMICALLY BY THE CITY WITH ITS OWN
EMPLOYEES AND AUTHORIZING SAME.
WHEREAS, public convenience and necessity require the
construction and completion of a public improvement in the City
of Anaheim, to wit: Installation of an automatic sprinkler system
at La Palma Park; and
WHEREAS, Anaheim City Charter Section 1211 provides that
the City Council, without advertising for bids if the total amount
of work on a public improvement is less than Fifty Thousand Dollars
($50,000.00), may declare and determine that, in its opinion, based
on estimates approved by the City Manager, the work in question may
be performed better or more economically by the City with its own
employees; and
WHEREAS, Anaheim Charter Section 1211 further provides
that by adoption of a resolution to this effect by the affirmative
vote of a majority of the total members of the City Council, it may
proceed to have the work done in the manner stated, without further
observance of the provisions of said Charter Section 1211; and
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation, and the Arts Department
has estimated that said improvement will cost Forty -Eight Thousand
Dollars ($48,000.00) and such estimate has been approved by the
City Manager; and
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation and the Arts Director does
hereby recommend to the City Council that the installation of an
automatic sprinkler system at La Palma Park, an estimate of which
is Forty -Eight Thousand Dollars ($48,u00.00), can be performed
better and more economically by City forces and that such job not
be advertised; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager does hereby approve such esti-
mate of Forty -Eight Thousand Dollars ($48,000.00,) for such job; and
WHEREAS, the City Council now declares and determines
that it would be for the benefit and in the best interests of the
City that this job not be advertised and that said improvements may
be performed better and more economically by City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim that the installation of an automatic sprinkler
system at La Palma Park not be advertised and that said improvement
is hereby authorized to be performed by City forces.
