A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM INITIATING ANNEXATION PROCEEDINGS
FOR SANTA ANA CANYON NO. 9 ANNEXATION TO THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AND FIXING A TIME, DATE AND
PLACE OF HEARING ON SAID PROPOSED ANNEXATION
PURSUANT TO SECTION 35220 OF THE GOVERNMENT
CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, a petition for the proposed annexation desig-
nated Santa Ana Canyon No. 9 Annexation to the City of Anaheim in
the County of Orange was heretofore filed by the Vista Del Rio
Rancho Water Company, as chief petitioner, and accepted for filing
on January 26, 1982, by the Executive Officer of Local Agency
Formation Commission of Orange County, California (hereinafter
"Commission ") pursuant to Part 2 of Title 4, Division 2, commenc-
ing with Section 35000 et seq. of the Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the distinctive short form designation assigned
by the Commission to the territory proposed to be annexed is:
SANTA ANA CANYON NO. 9 ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM; and
WHEREAS, said territory proposed to be annexed to the
City of Anaheim consists of approximately 67.0592 acres of land
located south of Santa Ana Canyon Road in the vicinity of
Eucalyptus Drive, in the County of Orange, and the exterior bound-
aries thereof are specifically described in the legal description
attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has heretofore determined in its
Resolution No. 82 -16, adopted on February 24, 1982, that the ter-
ritory proposed to be annexed is inhabited; and
WHEREAS, the reasons for the proposed annexation to the
City of Anaheim as set forth in the proposal thereof submitted to
the Commission by the chief petitioner are as follows:
1. The property is in the sphere of influence of the City
of Anaheim.
2. To receive better water service and fire protection along
with other municipal services.
WHEREAS, the Commission's Resolution No. 82 -16, making
determinations, set forth the following terms and conditions of
-. said proposed annexation:
1. The boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed
to the City of Anaheim are specifically described in the legal
description attached to said Commission Resolution and by such
reference made a part thereof. Said territory is found to be in-
habited and is assigned the .following short -form designation:

2. The City of Anaheim is designated the conduct- authority
and the legislative body thereof is directed to initiate annexation
proceedings in compliance with said Commission Resolution.
3. Any election called upon the question of confirming an
order for annexation shall be called, held and conducted upon such
annexation only within the territory ordered to be annexed.
4. The Vista Del Rio Rancho Water Company, as applicant,
shall be liable for and pay all proper expenses incurred in conduc-
ting proceedings in accordance with said Commission resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Anaheim does hereby initiate proceedings
pursuant to Section 35220 of the Government Code for the annexation
of the hereinabove described territory to the City of Anaheim.
2. That June 1 , 1982, at the hour of 3:00 p.m.
in the Council Chambers of the Anaheim Civic Center, 200 South
Anaheim Boulevard, Anaheim, California, is hereby .fixed as the time
and place when and where the City Council will hear and resolve
any oral and written protests, objections, or evidence which shall
be made, presented or filed relating to said proposed annexation.
3. That any owner of land within the territory proposed to
be annexed, or any registered voter residing within the territory
proposed to be annexed, may file a written protest against the annexa-
tion with the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim at any time prior to
the conclusion of the City Council's hearing on the proposed annexa-
tion. Each protest shall show the date that each signature was
affixed to such protests and shall state the name and address of the
owner of the land affected and the street address or other descrip-
tion sufficient to identify the location of such land; or the name
and address of the registered voter as it appears on the affidavit
of registration. Protests may be made on behalf of an owner by an
agent authorized in writing by the owner to act as agent with res-
pect to such land. Protests may be made on behalf of a private
corporation which is an owner of land by any officer or employee of
the corporation without written authorization by the corporation to
act as agent in making such protest.
4. The City Clerk shall cause notice of the hearing on the
proposed annexation to be given as provided in Sections 35222 and
35223 of the Government Code of the State of California.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 27th day of April, 1982.
