1982-215RESOLUTION NO. 82R -215
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SETTING FORTH LOCAL CONDITIONS
JUSTIFYING AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 1704 OF THE
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1979 EDITION.
WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 provides
for a city to make changes or modifications in the Uniform Building
Code, 1979 Edition, as are reasonably necessary because of local
climatic, geographical or topographical conditions; and
WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.7 requires
the City Council to make express _findings of the necessity for
modifications in the Uniform Building Code before adopting such
changes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Section 1704
of the Uniform Building Code, 1979 Edition, as heretofore adopted
by the City Council of the City of Anaheim, for the reasons herein-
after set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim that the amendment to Section 1704 of the Uniform
Building Code, 1979, as set forth in Ordinance No. 4245 is hereby
expressly found to be reasonably necessary for the health, safety
and general welfare of the residents of the City of Anaheim due to
the following climatic, geographical and topographical conditions:
1. The City of Anaheim is geographically located in an area
which is subject to periodic extremely high velocity wind conditions.
Said condition is further accentuated by the topographical features
of the hill and canyon areas in the easterly portion of the City.
2. The City of Anaheim is subject to seasonably high tempera-
tures and dry atmosphereic conditions which often occur during times
of the high velocity winds as hereinabove described.
3. Due to the climatic, geographical and topographical condi-
tions hereinabove described, the City of Anaheim is susceptible to
fires which are of particular danger during periods of high winds
when fires tend to spread across building roofs where such roofs
are not of noncombustible or fire- retardant construction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution,
together with a copy of Ordinance Nio.4 be filed with the State
Department of Housing and Community Development.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim t_'s 27th day of April, 1982.
