A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING
FUNDING FOR THE SOUTHEAST LOS
ANGELES-WESTERN ORANGE COUNTIES
TRANSPORTATION STUDY POLICY
ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SCAG)
WHEREAS, a number of Los Angeles and Orange County
jurisdictions including the City of Anaheim have formed the
Southeast Los Angeles-Western Orange Counties Policy Advisory
Committee ("Committee") to work toward the improvement and
preservation of mobility in the southeast Los Angeles-Western
Orange Counties subregion; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has identified and targeted the
most critical existing transportation problems affecting the
subregion; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has adopted a List of Priority
Projects and Proposals designed to ameliorate targeted problems;
and
WHEREAS, the Committee desires the timely and orderly
implementation of projects and proposals contained in the List of
Priority Projects and Proposals; and
WHEREAS, the implementation of the List of Priority
Projects and Proposals is consistent with the achievement of
long-range goals and objectives contained in the Southern
California Association of Governments' Regional Mobility Plan
(1988), Regional Transportation Improvement Program (1991), the
South Coast Air Quality Management Plan (1989) and the State
Transportation Improvement Plan (1990); and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
strongly desires to see progress in attaining the transportation
system improvements proposed in these Plans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim strongly urges the Southern California
Association of Governments to take all appropriate and necessary
steps to provide a combined total of $10,000 in annual funding
which will be used to provide staff support to the Southeast Los
Angeles-Western Orange Counties Transportation Study Policy
Advisory Committee in its cooperative, multi-jurisdictional
efforts aimed at implementation of the List of Priority Projects
and Proposals, and thereby facilitate the achievement of adopted
regional mobility and air quality goals and objectives.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 5~h day of March
1991.
