AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AMENDING
TITLE 8 OF THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE BY
ADDING THERETO CHAPTER 8.20, RELATING TO
WILD ANIMALS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That Title 8 of the Anaheim Municipal Code be, and
the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Chapter 8.20,
reading as follows:
"CHAPTER 8.20 WILD ANIMALS.
"Section 8.20.010 WILD ANIMAL DEFINED.
"The term 'wild animal' shall be construed to mean
and include any animal, reptile, fowl or fish which is
not naturally tame or gentle but is of a wild nature or
disposition or which is known to be vicious and which
must be kept in confinement to be brought within the
immediate power of the owner.
"This section shall not prohibit animals, gentle
as found in nature, such as small turtles, non -dangerous
birds, small, non-poisonous snakes, non -harmful fish, or
small monkeys, if gentle as found in nature.
`°SECTION 8.20.020 WILD ANIMALS NOT PERMITTED IN
CITY: EXCEPTIONS.
"It shall be unlawful for any person to keep or main-
tain, or cause to be kept or maintained, within the City
of Anaheim any wild animal as described in Section 8.20.010.
"The provisions of this Section shall not prohibit
the keeping or maintaining of the following wild animals
within the City of Anaheim:
(1) Wild animals in zoos or museums -- any wild
animals which are kept confined in zoos or
museums for the public to view.
(2) Wild animals in circuses, carnivals, exhibits
or shows -- any wild animals which are kept and
confined and placed on exhibit in a circus,
carnival, or any other type of exhibit or show;
provided, however, the Health Inspection Fees
shall have been obtained as required by Title 8,
Chapter 8.08 Section 8.08.010, et sec., of the
Anaheim Municipal Code, for all wild animals in
circuses, carnivals, exhibits or shows.
(3) Wild animals in bona fide, licensed veterinary
hospitals for treatment.
"Dangerous or poisonous reptiles may be maintained by
bona fide educational institutions for the purpose of
instruction, provided such reptiles are securely confined
and are properly cared for in a manner satisfactory to the 4.

SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin,
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after
its final passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by me
