AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANA-1EI`1111 ADOPTING
THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING
OFFICIALS UNIFORM', BUILDING CODE, VOLUhIE III,
HOUSING, 1967 EDITION, WITH AI'^ENDEMENTS
THERETO, AND X LADING TITLE 15, BY ADDING
CHAPTER 15.36 OF THE ANAHEIiI `•IUraICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM- DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1.
That Title 15 of the Anaheim �riunicipal Code be, and
the same is hereby amended by adding Chapter 15.36 to read as
follows:
"CHAPTER 15.36 UNIFOP31 BUILDING CODE, VOLLPME III,
HOUSING.
"SECTION 15.36.001 APPROVAL.
The City Council does find and determine, as the result of
study and investigation conducted by the City and its building
officials, that the International Conference of Building
Officials Uniform Building Code, Volume III, Housing, 1967
Edition, is an approved code for adoption by reference within
the meaning of Section 50022.1 of the Government Code of the
State of California.
"SECTION 15.36.010 ADOP^1ION OF UNIFOR-117 BUILDING CODE,
VOLTPIE III, HOUSING.
Pursuant to the authority granted to the City by Sections
50022.1 to 50022.8 of the Government Code of the State of
California, the City Council does hereby adopt, by reference,
the International Conference of Building Officials Uniform
Building Code, Volume III, Housing, 1967 Edition, as amended.
The City Clerk shall file three (3) certified copies in the
City Clerk's Office for public inspection while the Code is
in force and shall maintain a reasonable supcly of said
Code available for purchase by the public.
"SECTION 15.36 .020 AAIENDIIENTS .
Certain portions of Uniform Building Code are hereby amended
as follows:
1. Section H-203, on page 8, is hereby deleted.
2. The second paragraph of Section H-204, on page 8
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of
the provisions of this Code shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed
guilty of a separate offense for each and every day
or portion thereof during which any violation of any
of the provisions of this Code is committed, continued,

or permitted, and upon conviction of any such
violation such person shall be punishable by
a fine of not more than $500.00, or by imprisonment
for not more than 6 months, or by both such fine
and imprisonment.
3. Section H-302, on page 9, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Whenever a building permit is required by Section 301
of this Code, the appropriate fees shall be paid to
the building Official as specified in Section 303 of
the Uniform Building Code, Volume I, 1967 Edition, as
revised.
4. Section H-303 (b), on page 27, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
(b) Plan -Checking Fees. When the valuation of the
proposed construction exceeds One Thousand Dollars
($1,000.00) and a plan is required to be submitted
by Subsection (c) of Section 301, a plan -checking
fee shall be paid to the Building Official at the
time of submitting plans and specifications for
checking. Said plan -checking fee shall be equal
to one-half (1/2) of the building permit fee as
set forth in Table No. 3-A, PROVIDED, HOWEVER,
that no charge shall be made for checking duplicate
plans submitted at the same time.
5. Section H-303 is hereby amended by adding thereto
the following subsection (c):
(c) A fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) shall be charged
for the preliminary inspection of any existing
building where a permit to change the character of
occupancy or use of said building is applied for
or to make preliminary inspections on a building
where no permit has been issued.
6. Section 407, on page 33, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
FRONT OF LOT is the front boundary line of a lot
bordering on the street, and in the case of a corner
lot the narrow portion is the front.
7. The fourth paragraph of Section 420, page 37,
is hereby amended to read as follows:
STAIRWAY. Four or more risers shall constitute
a stairway.
8. The second paragraph of Section 1709 (b),
page 48, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Parapet walls not less than eighteen inches (18")
in height shall be provided on exterior walls of
buildings located in Fire Zone iso. 3 when the walls
are required to be fire -resistive due to their
location on the property.

9. Section 1709 (b) Exceptions are hereby amended
by deleting therefrom Exception No. 3.
"SECTION 15.36.030 MODIFICATIONS.
"The City Council reserves the right and power at its own
discretion or upon the recommendation of the Chief Building
Inspector to modify any of the provisions of the Building
Code when there are practical difficulties in the way of
carrying out the strict letter thereof provided that the
spirit of the Code shall be observed, public safety secured
and substantial justice done.
`SECTION 15.36.040 SEVEP.ABILITY.
"The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby declares
that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of
this chapter of the Code hereby adopted be declared for any
reason to be invalid, it is the intent of the Council that
it would have passed all other portions of this chapter
independent of the elimination herefrom of any such portion
as may be declared invalid."
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin,
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after
its final passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDI14ANCE is approved and signed by me
