AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ADOPTING
THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PLUMBING AND
MECHANICAL OFFICIALS AND INTERNATIONAL CONFER-
ENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS UNIFORM MECHANICAL
CODE, 1970 EDITION, APPENDICES A AND B INCLUDED,
WITH AMENDMENTS THERETO; AND AMENDING TITLE
15, CHAPTER 15.50 OF THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL
CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. APPROVAL OF CODE.
The City Council does find and determine, as the
result of study and investigation conducted by the City and its
Building Officials, that the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1970
Edition, Appendices A, B and C included, of the International
Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and the Inter-
national Conference of Building Officials is an approved code
for adoption by reference within the meaning of Section 50022.1
of the Government Code of the State of California,
SECTION 2,
That Title 15, Chapter 15.50 of the Anaheim Municipal
Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"CHAPTER 15.50 MECHANICAL CODE.
SECTION 15.50.001 ADOPTION OF UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE.
Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 50022.1 to
50022.8, both inclusive, of the Government Code of the State of
California, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does hereby
adopt, by reference, the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1970 Edition,
Appendices A, B and C included, with amendments thereto; that
three copies of the Code shall be filed in the office of the City
Clerk and shall be kept there for public inspection while the
Code is in force, all of which copies shall be certified to
be true copies by the City Clerk. The City Clerk shall at all
times maintain a reasonable supply of copies of the Code
available for purchase by the public."
"SECTION 15.50.010 AMENDMENTS.
Certain portions of said Uniform Mechanical Code are
hereby amended as follows;
1. Section 202, page 14, of said Code is herebv amended
by adding the following to the last sentence of the
second paragraph; 'in the City or County Jail'.
2. Section 203, page 14, is hereby deleted.
3. Section 304 is herebv amended to read as follows:
"The fees which shall be paid to the Building
Official for permit fees shall be as determined and
set forth by resolutions of the City Council."

4. Chapter 5, page 36, is hereby amended by adding
thereto the following sections, 511, 512 and 513:
"SECTION 511 PROHIBITED LOCATIONS.
Equipment regulated by this Code shall not be
located in any required front or side yard as established
by the Building Code or zoning ordinances."
"SECTION 512 (page 393-3) SCREENING.
Equipment regulated by this Code, when located
on the roof or outside of the building, shall be
screened from public view. Such screening shall
conform to the architecture of the building.
EXCEPTION: Window air conditioners."
"SECTION 513 NOISE ABATEMENT.
.Equipment regulated by this Code shall be installed
so that it will not produce a sound level above the limits
set forth in the ordinance 15.50.010, Section 513."
5. Table number 10-C on page 94 is hereby amended by
deleting therefrom the last column, pertaining to
the use of tin.
6. Subsection 1109 (b), page 100, is hereby amended
by adding thereto the following paragraph 8:
113. Every grease hood shall be equipped with an
approved automatic fire extinquishing
system."
7. Section 1202, page 103, is hereby amended by adding
thereto the following paragraph:
"Air cooled condensers or cooling towers located
within a building or confined space shall have the
air discharge directly to the outside of the
building."
8. Section 1901 (c), page 131, KITCHEN VENTILLATION is
hereby amended as follows: this section is to remain
as written in the First Edition of the Uniform
Mechanical Code, 1970 Edition.
9. APPENDIX B, pages 142 and 143, both inclusive, is
hereby amended by deleting therefrom Sections 2124,
2125, and 2126.
"SECTION 15.50.020 MODIFICATIONS.
The City Council reserves the right and power at its
own discretion or upon the recommendation of the Chief Building
Inspector to modify any of the provisions of the Mechanical
Code when there are practical difficulties in the way of
carrying out the strict letter thereof provided that the spirit
of the Code shall be observed, public safety secured and sub-
stantial justice done."

"SECTION 15.50.030 SEVERABILITY.
The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby declares
that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word in this
Chapter of the Code hereby adopted be declared for any reason
to be invalid, it is the intent of the Council that it would
have passed all other portions of this Chapter independent of
the elimination herefrom of any such portion as may be declared
invalid,"
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within
fifteen (15)clays after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin, a
newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circu-
lated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after its final
passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by me
this 23rd day of November , 19 71

hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 2978 was introduced
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Anaheim, held
on the 26th day of October, 1971, and reintroduced as amended at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Anaheim, held on
the 16th day of November, 1971, and that the same was duly passed and
adopted at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 23rd
day of November, 1971, by the following vote of the members thereof:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Pebley, Thom and Dutton
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Roth and Stephenson
AND I FURTHER CERTIFY that the Mayor of the City of Anaheim
approved and signed said Ordinance No. 2978 on the 23rd day of
November, 1971.
