Chairman Roth called the regular meeting of the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency
to order at 10:09 a.m.
MINUTES: Approval of the minutes was deferred to the next regular meeting.
FINANCIAL DEMANDS AGAINST THE ANAHEIM REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY in the amount of
21,257.95, in accordance with the 1984 -85 Budget, were approved.
161: MOTION: Agency Member Roth moved to receive and file the Monthly Status
Report for September 1984. Seconded Agency Member Overholt. MOTION CARRIED.
161.123: SECURITY SERVICE - AGENCY OWNED PARKING STRUCTURE: Submitted was a
report dated October 22, 1984 from the Executive Director of Community
Development, Norm Priest recommending an agreement with Lyons International
Security, Inc., for security services for the subject parking structure.
Agency Member Pickler questioned the need to spend what he calculated at
$40,000 a year for patrolling the Agency owned structure which was located
across the street from the City structure. He felt the same procedures for
security could be followed for both garages.
Executive Director Norm Priest explained the major reason for requesting
security for the subject garage, at least on a short -term basis, was due to
the fact that the new garage a week after it opened was defaced with graffiti
on the inside walls. The patrol was being recommended in order discourage
such activity. Further, the contract was written on an hourly basis so that
the Agency could eventually back away from the initial level of service as
quickly as possible.
After additional discussion and questioning of staff by Agency Members, Agency
Member Pickler asked that a report be submitted in approximately three months.
MOTION Agency Member Roth moved to authorize with Lyons International
Security, Inc., at a cost of $7.35 per hour to provide security services for
the parking structure located at 235 East Old Lincoln Avenue between the hours
of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. seven days a week, effective September 26, 1984.
Agency Member Kaywood seconded the motion. MOTION CARRIED.
