149: AWARD OF CONTRACTS - PACIFIC BELL PARKING STRUCTURE - KOLL ANAHEIM CENTER
PHASE I: Submitted was joint report dated October 22, 1990 from the Executive
Director of Community Development and the Director of Public Works /City
Engineer, recommending award of contract to the lowest and best responsible
bidder on the following: Concrete, reinforcing steel, excavation shoring and
masonry - precast concrete - plumbing, and electrical, and rejecting the one
bid received on the elevator portion since it was approximately 75% higher than
the estimate.
Lisa Stipkovich, Executive Director, Community Development. As the staff
report indicates, the approved Disposition and Development Agreement with the
Koll Company, hired to act as construction managers on this project, requires
the Agency to provide parking as part of Phase I of the Koll Anaheim Center.
The bids have been reviewed by her Department as well as by the City Engineer.
The crucial timing is to have the parking structure built and completed when
Pac Bell occupies their building. She recommended that the Agency award the
four contracts as recommended and reject the elevator portion since only one
bid was received.
MOTION: Councilman Hunter moved to award contracts as follow:
Awarding the contract to the lowest and best responsible bidder, Bomel
Construction Company, Inc., in the amount of $4,469,000 for concrete,
reinforcing steel, excavation, shoring and masonry, in connection with
the construction of the multi -level Pacific Bell parking structure
