A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE ANAHEIM
POLICE ASSOCIATION AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the Assistant Labor Relations Director met and conferred with
officials and employee representatives of the Anaheim Police Assoclatlon to establish
a vacation buy back program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim finds that establishing such
program is In the best Interest of the City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City Council of the City of Anaheim
that notwithstanding the provisions of Article 43, "Vacation," any employee In the
Peace Officers Unit of Representation may, at his or her request and subject to
approval of his or her department head, cash out all or a portion of his or her
accrued vacation balance. Employees shall be limited to a maximum of four (4)
requests during the period of this Resolution, and at no time shall any accrual
balance go below zero (0). All requests shall be in compliance with the police
officers' annual leave provisions of California Government Code Section 38634.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all provisions of Article 43, "Vacation" shall
remain In full force and effect except to the extent of any conflict with the Intent
of this Resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the provisions set forth in this resolution
expire June 30, 1994.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION Is approved and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim this 10oh day of August, 1993.

LETI'ER OF UNDERSTANDING
Between
CITY OF ANAHEIM
and the
ANAHEIM POLICE ASSOCIATION
The Anaheim Police Association and the City of Anaheim, after meeting
and conferring, have reached an understanding to amend Artlcle 43 Vacation
as follows:
43.8 An employee shall be eligible from July 30, 1993 to June 30,
1994 to request to be compensated at his or her regular hourly
rate of pay for all or a portion of vacation hours accrued but
not taken, subject to the following provisions:
43.8.1 An employee's request Is subject to the approval of the
employee's department head.
43.8.2 Requests submitted during any bi-weekly pay period
shall be paid on the payday for that pay period.
43.8.3 A maximum of four such payments shall be allowed.
43.8.4 When requested, such payments may be diverted to the
employee's Deferred Compensation account, within limits
established by law.
43.8.5 All requests shall be in compliance with the police
officers time off provisions of California Government
Code Section 38634.
