A RESOLUTION OF THE ANAHEIM REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY EXPRESSING THE AGENCY'S CONCERN
REGARDING INCLUSION OF CERTAIN STRUCTURES
WITHIN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT ALPHA ON
THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.
WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Plan for Redevelopment
Project Alpha was originally adopted in 1973 and amended in
1976; and
WHEREAS, after numerous and exhaustive public
hearings, said Plan was amended a second time in November
of 1976; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said amended Plan, the Anaheim
Redevelopment Agency, the Community Redevelopment Commission,
and many groups, businesses and individuals have taken actions
to initiate the redevelopment of the downtown portion of
Project Alpha in accordance with said Plan, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency has been
advised of the recent nomination of many structures to be
placed on the National Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, the preservation of historic places and
structures is a recognized goal in the Redevelopment Plan
when such preservation is consistent with the revitalization
of the Project Area and elimination of blight; and
WHEREAS, the designation of certain structures as
historic structures would adversely affect the revitaliza-
tion of Project Alpha; and
WHEREAS, the Agency has entered into contracts for
development of certain properties, which properties include
some structures nominated for designation on the National
Register; and
WHEREAS, each of said contracts was subjected to
review under the terms of the California Environmental
Quality Act.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Anaheim
Redevelopment Agency that the following specified structures
are not recommended for inclusion on the National Register
of Historic Places because
(1) inclusion of said structures would severly hamper
the redevelopment of Project Alpha;
(2) most of said structures were constructed within
the last sixty years or have been extensively
renovated thereby losing the integrity of the
original construction;
(3) severe structural deterioration is common to said
structures; and
(4) said structures represent common construction
methods and are neither significant nor particular-
ly distinguished examples of architecture worthy
of preservation:
