CALL TO ORDER — Chairman Baldwin called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — Chairman Baldwin led the Pledge of Allegiance.
INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATIONS
A. Written Communication — None.
B. Unscheduled Oral Communication from the Public - None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Chairman Baldwin presented the May 26, 2010 Minutes to the
Commissioners and asked if there were any changes /corrections. There being none, Chairman Baldwin
accepted the Minutes as presented.
ACTIVITY REPORTS
A. Recreation, Human and Neighborhood Services Activity Report — April /May 2010 Lynn Smith
presented the report and answered questions from the commissioners regarding youth soccer, day
camp participation, future plans to market recreation classes, and the We Care program for seniors
at the Downtown Community Center.
B. Parks Capital Project Progress Report — Pamela Galera presented the report, provided updated
information on the following projects and answered questions from the Commissioners.
• Anaheim Coves — The project is out to bid; Council approval of a contract is scheduled for the
end of July.
• Anaheim Wetlands — Staff is submitting a grant for additional mitigation.
• Colony Park - The Park is under construction by the developer.
• Founders Park — The construction schedule has been developed; bid opening is scheduled for
August 12 with Council award on August 24 The project is anticipated to be substantially
completed in January /February 2011.
• Lincoln Park — The Anaheim City School District will be rebuilding Lincoln Elementary School
which will impact the park located off Broadway, and access to the joint -use park located on the
Lincoln Avenue. Staff is working with the school district to have the play area on the kindergarten
side (Lincoln Avenue) be available to the public after school hours.
• Miraloma — Pamela corrected the site visit date to June 25, stating this visit is one 80 sites the
state officials were visiting under the Prop 84 grant. There were upwards of 500 applications.

Oak Canyon — Staff is applying for a grant to build a new Nature Center located across the creek
from the current facility, and change the entrance to a direct access from the street allowing
visitors to walk directly to the new building. The grant is for $7 million.
Pioneer Park — The Challenger Field and renovations to the existing field are finished; the
restroom /concession stand building has been set, and plumbed /wired. The new scoreboards for
both fields are installed. The renovation of the two playgrounds will also be completed by
opening day on July 12. The security lighting will be completed after July 12.
Ponderosa Park — Acceptance of the new parking lot is anticipated by the end of June; the
school /library will be completed by Thanksgiving. Commissioner Baldwin requested the
commissioners be invited to the master plan meeting.
Chairman Baldwin requested the word "public" be added to the sign in front of the Anaheim
Tennis Center, as many residents believe it is a private club. Larry Pasco stated staff will follow
up on this request.
NEW BUSINESS None.
INFORMATION ITEMS — Larry Pasco reported the City Council, at their June 22, 2010 meeting,
approved the FY2010/11 city budget. Larry stated during the meeting there was some discussion to
combine the Senior Commission with the Park and Recreation Commission. Further research is required
to meet charter /ordinance requirements.
Commissioner Vadodaria reported the Canyon High School student group, STEP, and some of their
members had attended a Commission meeting last year and held a fundraising concert at Pearson
Theatre, continues to grow in numbers and held their 2n annual concert at the high school. It was a
success.
