A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE TP3~NSFER OF CERTAIN
RECORDS TO THE ANAHEIM ARCHIVES
WHEREAS, Chapter 1.10 of Title 1 of the Anaheim
Municipal Code (the ~Code") sets forth the Records Management
Program of the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, subsection .060 of Section 1.10.040 of the
Code provides that the City Clerk shall have the responsibility
to make provision for the Anaheim Archives as a place for the
permanent preservation of historical records of the City of
Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, subsection .010 of Section 1.10.050 of the
Code provides that the City Clerk shall be and shall remain the
legal custodian of any records transferred to the Anaheim
Archives; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to designate a
location as the Anaheim Archives and authorize the transfer of
certain historical city records thereto for permanent
preservation.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1o The Elizabeth J. Schultz Mother Colony History
Room of the Anaheim Public Library, Main Branch, is hereby
designated as the Anaheim Archives pursuant to, and within the
meaning of, Chapter 1.10 of the Anaheim Municipal Code.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to transfer those certain city records described on Exhibit "A"
attached hereto, and incorporated herein by this reference, to
the Anaheim Archives for permanent preservation.
3. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to
establish an index for all records now or hereinafter transferred
to the Anaheim Archives. Duplicate copies of said index shall be
retained in the City Clerk's Office and the Anaheim Archives.
4. No record transferred to the Anaheim Archives
shall be permitted to be removed or transferred from the Anaheim
Archives without approval by resolution of the City Council,
except that temporary loans of any such records for display at
another location under the ownership or control of the City of
Anaheim may be authorized by the City Clerk.
5. No record transferred to the Anaheim Archives
shall be destroyed or otherwise damaged or defaced without
approval by resolution of the City Council.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 19thday of November
1996.
