A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE
CHIEF OF POLICE TO SUBMIT A GRANT
PROPOSAL ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM IN CONNECTION WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF
COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING
SERVICES (COPS) FOR THE ~COPS MORE"
GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to purchase mobile
personal computers, data radios, software, hardware and labor for
thirty-eight (38) police cars and upgrade base station equipment
to complete Phases I, II and III of the Automated Field Reporting
Project to introduce the capability of paperless field report
writing; and
WHEREAS, the ~COPS MORE" Grant Program makes funds
available for the purchase of equipment, technology and other
materials directly related to basic law enforcement functions;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wish to apply for COPS
MORE" Grant funds for the purpose of procuring the equipment,
technology, and other material described above;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby
authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit
a proposal for "COPS MORE" Grant Funds in the amount of
Nine Hundred Eighty-Three Thousand Four Hundred Forty-
Six Dollars ($983,446.00) to the United States
Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented
Policing Services, and to execute on behalf of the City
of Anaheim all required grant documents, including any
extensions and amendments thereof.
2. The City of Anaheim agrees to provide matching funds in
the amount of twenty-five percent (25%) of the overall
cost of the project, or Three Hundred Twenty-Seven
Eight Hundred Sixteen Dollars ($327,816.00)
3. The grant funds received hereunder shall be used for
the purchase of mobile personal computers, radios and
mounting brackets, other equipment and contract labor
to improve communications between the station and the
patrol units and to introduce the capability of
paperless field report writing, and shall be used to
supplement, and not to supplant, local funding.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 22nd day of
