A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING
BETVVEEN THE ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION
AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Director met and conferred with officials and
employee representatives of the Anaheim Firefighters Association, concerning a proposed
Letter of Understanding that recommends amending Article 16 - Temporary Upgrading of
Employees of the current Memorandum of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, the Association is in agreement with the recommendation contained in said
Letter of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated February 26, 1996
between the parties has been prepared and signed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best
interest of the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that
the Letter of Understanding dated February 26, 1996 between the Anaheim Firefighters
Association and the City of Anaheim, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by
reference herein, is hereby approved.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the
City ofAnaheim this 12t. b. dayof March, 1996.

LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING
between the
ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, LOCAL 2899
and the CITY OF ANAHEIM
IT IS HEREBY AGREED, by and between the Anaheim Firefighters Association (AFA),
and the City of Anaheim (CITY), that Article 16 - Temporary Upgrading of Employees, of the
Memorandum of Understanding between the AFA and the City of Anaheim is amended as
follows:
16.7 Employees temporarily upgraded to the following job classifications shall receive a five
pement (5%) pay differential for all time worked in the higher job classification dudng
normal working hours if they are assigned to work the higher job classification for a pedod
of four (4) working hours or longer. Employees temporarily upgraded to any of these job
classifications shall receive a five percent (5%) pay differential for all time worked in the
~ higher job classification dudng other than normal working hours.

Fire/Arson Investigator I
16.8 Employees temporarily upgraded to a Paramedic, a Firefighter Fire/Arson
Investigation, or a Hazardous Materials assignment shall receive the appropriate
assignment pay differential in accordance with Appendix "A" for all time worked in
the specialty assignment, if they are assigned to work the specialty assignment for a
period of four (4) working hours or longer and they meet the following conditions:
a. The employee has previously served a minimum of one year full-time in the
specialty assignment, and
b. The employee has maintained the required certification(s).
16.81 Such specialty assignment pay shall be in lieu of and not in addition to
upgrade pay authorized under Article 16.7.
