VORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT THE OP-
eration, maintenance, use, or conduct -
ng, of slot machines, card machines, tape
machines, and other mechanical devices, in
the City of Anaheim, for money, or goods,
wares or merchandise, when the result of
the operation or action of which is depend-
ent upon chance or hazard.
The Board of Trustees of. the City of Ana-
heim do ordain as follows: -
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any
person, either as owner, lessee, agent. em-
pployee, mortgagee or otherwise, to operate,
kee , maintain, rent, use, or conduct, wMth-
in the City of Anaheim, any clock. tape, slot,
or card machine. or any other machine,
contrivance or device. upon which money is
i staked, or hazarded upon chance, or into
which money is paid, deposited, or played,

upon chance, r upon the result of the ac-
tion of which money, or any other article
or thing of value, is staked, bet, hazarded,
won, or lost, upon chance -

tion whereof, or as a result of the operation
of which, any merchandise, money, repre-
sentative or article of value, check or token
redeemable in or exchangeable for money,
or any other thing of value, is won or lost, '
or taken from or obta,;ned from such ma-
chine, when the result of the action or oper-
ation of such machine, contrivance, appli-
ance or mechanical device, is dependent
upon hazard or chance.
Sec. 3. Any person who shall .violate the
'provisions of this ordinance, or any pro-
vision thereof, shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof,
shall be punished by a fine in a sum not less
.than twenty-five dollars, nor more than one
hundred dollars, or by imprisonment in the
City Jail for not exceeding three mouths,
or shall suffer both such fine and impris-
onment,
Sec. 4 The City Clerk shall certify to the
"passage of this ordinance, and cause the
same to be published once in the ANAHEIM
.-GAZETTE, a weekly newspaper printed, pub-
lished and circulated in the City of Ana-
heim; and thereafter and thereupon it shall
take effect and be in full torce. O. RUST,

nanee was introduced at a meeting of the
Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim,
held on the 13th day of June, 1699, and that it
was duly passed at a regular meeting of the
Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim,

The Board of Trustees ofthe City of Azaheirl do ordain as
follows:--
