58R-4320 (20) r'" - RESOLUTION l<<). 4538 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE JOINT COMMUNITY RECREATION PROGRAM OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, THE ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE ANAHEIM CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE MAGNOLIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF AHARE 1M TO ENTER INTO .AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR SUCH JOINT COMAUNITY RECREA- TION PROORAM. WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, the Anaheim Union High School District, the Anaheim City School District and the Magnolia Elementary School District desire to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of the people of the City of Anaheim and said School Districts and to cultivate and develop good citizenship by providing for an adequate program of community recreation and to conduct such a program of community recreation as will contribute to the attainment of general educational and recreational objectives for the children and adults of the City of Anaheim and said School Districts; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and said School Districts desire to cooperate with one another to carry out the provi- sions of Chapter 4, Division 12 of the Education Code of the State of California, and to that end to enter into an agreement with one another to organize, promote and conduct a joint pro- gram of community recreation to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of the children and people of the City and said School Districts; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the City of Anaheim enter into an agreement with the Anaheim Union High School District, the Anaheim City School District and the Magnolia Elementary School Distr ict for the following purposes: -- 1. To Jointly organize, promote and conduct a program of community recreation during the fiscal year 1958-59, for general education and recreation objectives for the children and adults of the City of Anaheim and said School Districts to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of the people of the City and said School Districts. 2. To prOVide that all public parks and recre- ation facilities, EXCEPTING the Municipal Plunge of the City of Anaheim, shall be made available to be used as a part of a joint community recreation program for the fiscal year 1958-59, and shall be maintained and cared for by the City of Anaheim; and That the City of Anaheim shall make available to the Anaheim Union High School District all public parks and recreation facilities, EX- CEPTING the Municipal Plunge, said facilities to be used Jointly in the physical education -1- ..---- 3. program of the Anaheim Union High School District, and to be maintained and cared for by the Citl of Anaheim during the fiscal year 1958-59. To provide that all recreation facilities of the Anaheim Union High School District be made available and be used as a part of said Joint cOMmunity recreation program for the fiscal year 1958-59, and be main- tained and cared for by the Anaheim Union High School District. 4. To provide that all recreation facilities of the Anaheim City School District be made available and be used as a part of said Joint community recreation program for the fiscal year 1958-59, and be maintained and cared for by the Anaheim City School District, EXCEPT that all open grounds not covered by buildings and pertinent structures, and ad- jacent to City-owned park sites shall be maintained and cared for by the City of Anaheim Park and Recreation Department as a part of the City'S park system, in order to insure the citizens of Anaheim a more economical maintenance program and to in- sure uninterrupted use according to the joint agreement by and between the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim City School District. To provide that all recreation facilities of the Magnolia Elementary School District be made available and be used as a part of said Joint community recreation program for the fiscal year 1958-59, and be maintained and cared for by the Magnolia Elementary School District. 5. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anaheim City School District shall pay the City of Anaheim, by monthly warrant, the sum of $3600.00 annually for the care and maintenance of the grounds not covered by buildings and pertinent structures and adjacent to City-owned park sites, referred to in Item 4 above, said monthly payments to be made according to the estimated cost of maintenance for the preceding month, and the final payment to be the difference between the monthly payments and said sum of $3600.00. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the general expense for salaries of supervisors, instructors, attendants, employees, and supplies and general maintenance expense of said Community Recreation Program shall be borne by the City of Anaheim and said School Districts as follows: ,- CITY OF ANAHEIM ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT ANAHEIM CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT MAGNOLIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT .$ 93,000.00 31,000.00 23,250.00 7,750.00 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim wit h said School Districts for the purposes hereinabove mentioned and in -2- - accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in this resolution. r-.
