ORDINANCE NO. 180
AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING.CIFI
CATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUC-
TION OF CEMENT. CROSS -WALKS
IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.

The Board of Trustees of the City of
Anaheim do ordain as follows:
Section 1. That all cement cross -walks
which may be hereafter ordered to be
constructed by the Board of Trustees of
the City of Anaheim, shall be constructed
in accordance with the following specifi-
cations, to -wit:
1. The work shall be done in accordance
with plans, profiles and cross-sections on
file in the office of the City Clerk, and all
work shall during its progress and on its
completion conform to the lines and lev-
els which may from time to time be given
by the City Engineer.
2. The foundation for the cross=walk
shall be brought to the proper sub -grade;
six inches below the surface of the fin-
ished work, the whole sub-surfac haing
tamped- or rolled until tt Ys°'gollt�; The
material to be supplied in case of a fill
shall be good earth of such a quality as
will pack.
3. Cement cross -walks shall be four
feet wide, six inches thick, and of the
form shown in the before -mentioned plans
and cross-sections.
4. Cement cross -walks shall be con-
structed of cement concrete as follows:
Concrete shall consist of one part by
measure of cement to six parts of sand
and gravel. All concrete shall be mixed
by skilled workmen on a proper tight
platform. The material shall be thor-
oughly mixed and incorporated While dry
so as to form a homogeneous mixture of
the ingredients; then the water shall be
added in such quantities as to produce a
uniformly and thoroughly wet mass; but
not enough to produce a slush. While be-
ing wetted the whole mass shall be turned
over at least once more. No concrete
shall be used that shows evidence of hav-
ing set, that has become unfit for good
work from standing too long or from any
other cause, and no remixing of concrete
shall be allowed.
Upon the foundation prepared as here
inbefore specified shall be spread a layer
of concrete which shall be five inches
thick after having been tamped. This
layer of concrete shall be thoroughly
tamped until free mortar appears on the
surface. On this concrete base shall be
placed a flushing coat one inch thick,
composed of one part of cement to two
parts of clean, sharp sand.
Cement cross -walks shall be protected
from the sun, barricaded against passing
vehicles and other sources of damage,
and thoroughly watered for ten days af-
ter completion.
Section 2. The general requirements
for this work shall be the same as set
forth in Section 4 of Ordinance No. 162,
which Is hereby. -referred to and made .a
part of this ordinance.
Sec. 3. In constructing cross -walks In
said City, contractors must not obstruct
more than one-half the width of the
street on which the cross -walk is being
constructed, and must leave one-half of
the width of such street free of all im-
pediments to traffic during the work of
construction.
Sec. A. The City Clerk shall certify to
the passage of this Ordinance and shall
cause the same to be published oncein
the Orange County Plaindedler, a weekly
newspaper of general circulation printed,
published and circulated In said City of
Anaheim, and thereupon and thereafter
it shall be in full force and effect.

" An ordinance adopting specifications for the con
w_ struction -of cement cross walks in the City" of Anaheim.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim do ordain as
follows -
SFCTTON 1: That all cement cross -walks which may be here-
after ordered to be constructed by the Board of Trustees of the
Cit-ir of Anaheim "shall be constructed in accordance with the fol-
lowing spec if scat ions, to wit:'
