DOGS, AND REGULATING THE
KEEPING OF DOGS WITHIN SAID
CITY", be, and the same are hereby,
amended to read as follows:
' Section 2: License Pees.
b (a) There is hereby levied an
annual license of One Dollar ($1.00)
upon every male dog over the age
of three months; One Dollar ($1.00)
t upon every spayed female dog over
the age of three months,. and- Two
Dollars ($2,00) upon every unspay-
ed' female dog over the age of three
months, owned or harbored within
the ,City- of.Anahelm. Zvery..per-
son owning or harboring any dog
over the age of three months with-
in the City of Anaheim shall pay
such license. Such license shall be
due and payable on the first day of
July of each 4nd7gyery year here-
after, commencing,July -1942.

of this Ordinance for a spayed fe-
male dog, a certificate in writing
signed by a person duly licensed to

tifying that such female _has been
spayed, shall be exhibited dap -
proved in writing by the C reas-

(b) "Any person, firm or corpor-
ation owning, conducting, manag-
ing or operating any dog kennel,
except kennels kept, for veterinary
care, in the City of Anaheim, shall
Pay for the privilege of maintain+
ing, conducting or ayorating such"
kennel, in lieu of the individual dog

lows:
For any such kennel containing
more than three dog& and less than
eleven dogs, the sum of Eighteen
Dollars (=18.00) per year or frac-
tion thereof; for any kennel con-
taining more than ten dogs and less
than twenty dogs, the sum of Twen-
ty-four Dollars ($24.00) per year or
fraction thereof; for any kennel
containing more than nineteen dogs,
FIfty Dollars ($60.00) per year.
Such kennel license shall be due
and payable on the fist day of
July of each and every year here.
after commencing July 1, 1942.
In any case' where during any
year the number of dogs, in any
licensed kennel is increased to a
number in excess of the number for
which a kennel license shall. have j
been issued the firm, person or
corporation conducting, managing {
or, operating such kennel shall ob-
tain a new license therefor, such
new license to cover the increased
number of doge therein, and upon
the surrender to the City Treasurer
of the unexpired license for such
kennel the City Treasurer shall
cancel such unexpired license and
shall allow as a credit on the new
license the amount originally paid
for such cancelled license. Every
person, firm or corporation who
establishes or commences conduct-

Section 3: The City Treasurer
shall, and it is hereby made his
duty, to collect such licenses from
'every owner or harborer of dogs
required to be licensed, and from
every person, firm or corporation
1 managing,' conducting or operating
a kennel within the City of Ana-
heim. To eachperson paying the
required license, other than a ken-
nel license, he shall issue a tag for
each dog licensed. Upon such tag
shall be stamped words and num-
erals showing the license year for
which the came is .issued. Such.
tags shall also be serially number-
ed. Duplicate of lost license tag
may be procured from the City
or
Treasurer upon exhibition of lgi-
nal and payment of twenty-five
cents. The City Treasurer shall
keep a register in which he shall
enter the name of the owner or har_
borer of each dog for which a li-
cense is paid, together with the date
and number of the tag issued.
Section 4: It is unlawful for any
person owning harboring or having
charge or control of any dog, to
permitor allow such dog to run at
large upon any street, alley orppub-
lie place within the City of Ana -
helm, unless there be attached to

ment of the license levied by the
Ordinance.
Section 9: It is unlawful for any
person to interfere with, impose or
resist the City Treasurer or the
Chief of Police in the performance
of their duties herein provided.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk of i
the City of Anaheim shall certify
to thepassage of this Ordinance
and shall cause the same to be
published within fifteen (16) days
after its final passage in the Ana-
heim Bulletin, a daily newspaper
.with general circulation printed,
published and oirculated within
-the City of Anaheim and thirty (30)
days from and after its final pas-
sage, it shall take effect and be in
full force#.

SAID CITY", be, and the same are hereby, amended to read as follows
Section 2: License Fees.
(a) There is hereby levied an annual license of One
Dollar (*1.00) upon every male dog over the age of three
months; One Dollar 031.00) upon every spayed female dog
over the age of three months, and Two Dollars (.1"2.00)
upon every unspayed female dog over the age of three
months, owned or harbored within the pity of Anaheim.
Every person owning or harboring any dog over the ale of
three months Within the City of Anaheim shall pay such
license. Such license shall be due and payGble on the
first day of July of each and every year hereafter,
commencing July 1, 19,2. Every person who comes into
ownership of or harbors a doh; over the age of three months
in the City of Anaheim after July 1st of any year shall
immediately pay such license for the remainder of the
license year in the full amount provided in this section.

BEFORE any license shall be issued under the provisions

of this Ordinance for a spayed female dog, a. certificate

veterinary medicine or sur_;ery describing such dog and

certifying that such female has been spayed, shall be

exhibited and approved in writing by the City Treasurer,

unless the City Treasurer is otherwise satisfied that such

female dog has in fact been spayed. In the event that a
9
dispute should arise over the age of any dog, the owner
10
or harborer of such dog shall furnish the City Treasurer
11
with documentaryroof of the age of such do

such proof is furnished it shall be presumed that such dog
13
is of an age requiring it to be licensed, to -wit: over
14
the age of three months.

(b) Any person, firm or corporation owning,
16
conducting, managing or operating any dog kennel, except
17
kennels kept for veterinary care, in the pity of Anaheim,
18
shall pay for the privilege of maintaining, conducting

or operating such kennel, in lieu of the individual dog li

cense provided for herein, an annual license on such kennel

of dogs in any licensed kennel is increased. o a number
in excess of the number for which a. kernel license shall
have been issued the firm, person or corporation con-
ducting, managing or operating; such kennel s'riall obtain
a new license therefor, such new license to cover the in-
creased number of dogs t'-lerein., and upon the surrender to
the `pity Treasurer of the unexpired license for such
kennel the City Treasurer shall cancel such unexpired

Section 3: -`he City Treasurer shall, and it is here-
by made his duty, to collect such licenses from every
owner or harborer of dogs required to be licensed, and
from every person, firm or corporation managing, con-
ducting or operating a kennel within the City of Anaheim.
To each person paying the required license, other than a
kennel license, he shall issue a tag for each dog licensed

the license year for which the same is issued. Such tags

11 Chief of Police in the performance of their duties herein
12 provided.
13 SECTION 2: The City 6lerk of the City of Anaheim shall
14 certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same
15 to be published within fifteen (15) days after its final passage
16 in the Anaheim Bulletin, a daily newspaper with general circula-
17 tion printed, published and circulated within the amity of G..naheim
18 and thirty (30) days from and after its final passage, it shall tak
19 effect and be in full force.
