semination of local and telegraphic news and intelligence of a general char-
acter, having a bona fide subscription list of paying subscribers; that at all
said times said newspaper had been established, printed and published in the
said City of Anaheim, in said County and State at regular intervals for more

SECTION 1 That Section 2 of Ordin-
ance No. 161 of the City of Anaheim, en-
titled "An Ordinance Fixing the Compen-
sation of Certain Officers of the City of
Anaheim," ppi�sssed and adapted on the.l
29th day of Mhrch, 1904, be and the same
Is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 2. The compensation of the
City Marshal and Ex -officio Tax and Li-
cense Collector is hereby 'fixed at One
hundred Dollars per r month, payable
monthly, which compensation shall be in
full for all services now, or which may
hereafter M required of 'him by any law
of ;he State, of California, or by any or,
dinance or resolution of the Board of
Trustees of said City, now in effect in
which mai hereafter' be enacted or
adopted. Nothing in this section, how-
ever, shall be construed to prohibit the
Marshal from demanding and receiving
such compensation as may be allowed
by law for services rendered from serv-
ing process 'from Superior Court or -jus-
tice's Court in the State of California, or
from collecting from parties to civil ac-
tions any lawful fees for the service of
process therein. I
"The compensation of Deputy Marshals
and police officers in' said city is hereby,
fixed as follows: One Deputy Marshal and
Policeman at Thirty Dollars per month,
and two Deputy Marshals and Policemen, .
at Seventy-five Dollars ' each per month,
Which shall be payable monthly."
SECTION 2. Tjiat Section 5 of said
Ordinance No. 161, be, and the same is
hereby amended to _read as follows:,
"SECTION 5. The compensation of the
Superintendent.of Streets 'is hereby fixed
at One Hundred Dollars per month, pay- `
able monthly.. Said Street Superintend-
ent shall furnish his own transportation
facilities without expense. to said city."
SECTION 3. That said Ordinance No.
161 be; and the same is hereby amended

TIONS 2 AND 5 OF ORDINANCE NO.
161 OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM,

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 That Section 2 of Ordin-
ance No. 161 of the City of Anaheim, en-

sation of Certain Officers of the City of
Anaheim," passed and adopted on the
29th day of March, 1904, be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 2. The compensation of the

SECTION 3. That said Ordinance No.
161 be, and the same is hereby amended
by adding a new section thereto to be
numbered and designated "Section 5A,"
which said Section 5A shall read as fol-
lows:
"SECTION 6A. The compensation of
the Civil Engineer of said City shall be
Six Dollars per diem, payable monthly,
which shall be in full compensation for
the services to be rendered by said Civil
Engineer and Ex -Officio Plumbing In-
spector. Said Engineer shall receive such
compensation only for such time actual-
ly devoted to his official duties."
SECTION 4. All Ordinanes and parts
of Ordinances in conflict with the pro-
visions of this ordinance are hereby re-
pealed
5. The City Clerk of the City
of Anaheim shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance, and cause the same to be
published once in the "Anaheim Gazette"
a weekly newspaper of a general charact-
er, printed, published and circulated in
the City of Anaheim, and thirty days
from and after its final passage it shall
take effect and be in full force.
The foregoing ordinance is signed, ap-
proved and attested by me this 22nd day
of June, 1916.
