AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ERADICATION AND REMOVAL OF GRASS,
WEEDSDIRT, RUBBISH, RANK GROWTH AND VEGETATION FROM THE STREETS,'
SIDEWILKS, LOTS, BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE
NUMBER 96, AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
THERLTITH.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is hereby made the duty of any owner, lessee
or occupant of any buildings, grounds or lots, or any real pro -pert
within the corporate limits of the City of Anaheim, to keep such
buildings, grounds, lots or real property free from, and remove
dirt, rubbish, weeds and rank growth from the buildings, grounds,
lots, and real property, and to keep the street or streets upon
which such buildings, grounds, lots or real property is located
free from, and remove all grass, weeds, rubbish, rank growth and
vegetation from the outer edge of such street or streets adjoinin
such real property up to the center line of such street or street
SECTION 2. If any owner, lessee or occupant of such buildin s,
grounds, lots or real property, shall fail to remove and keep such
premises and the street or streets upon which the property is lo—
cated, free from dirt, rubbish, weeds and rank growth, as provide
for in Section 1 of this Ordinance, the Board of Trustees of the
City of Anaheim may authorize the Superintendent of Streets to
notify such owner, lessee or occupant to comply with the provisions
of this ordinance, and eradicate and remove all dirt, rubbish, weeds
and rank growth from the buildings,, grounds, lots or real property,
or all the dirt, rubbish, weeds, rank growth and vegetation from
the street or streets that adjoin the buildings, lots, grounds o
real property owned or controlled by such owner, lessee or occup
to—wit: all of such buildings, grounds, lots or real property,
and all that portion of such street or streets between the outer
edge adjoining such real property up to the center line of such
street or streets.
SECTION 3. When the Board of Trustees shall authorize the

Superintendent of Streets to give the notice mentioned in Section
2 of this Ordinance, it shall be the duty of the Superintendent of
Streets to give such notice in writing, which notice shall contain
a description of the buildings, grounds, lots or real property, fr�
which the dirt, rubbish, weeds or rank growth are to be removed,
or the street adjoining such premises from which such dirt, rubbish,
weeds, rank growth or vegetation is to be removed, or both, which
notice shall be served upon the owner of said premises, if known,
and upon the lessee or occupant of said premises, which notice shall
be served by depositing said notice, postage paid, in the United
States Post Office in the City of Anaheim, directed to the owner o
said premises, if known, and a copy thereof shall be mailed to the
lessee or occupant of said premises. If the owner is not known, o
resides outside the State of California, said notice shall be give
by posting a copy thereof conspicuously on the property to be
affected, for ten days, which service of notice shall be deemed to
be completed ten days after posting. Such notice shall specify
that if the provisions of Section 1 of this ordinance are not com-
plied with in ten days from the time of the service of said notice
that the City of Anaheim will eradicate and remove all dirt, rub-
bish, weeds, rank growth from said buildings, grounds, lots or rea
property, or remove all dirt, rubbish, weeds, rank growth and veg-
etation from such street or streets at the expense of the owner,
lessee or occupant of said buildings, grounds, lots or real property.
SECTION 4. If the owner, lessee or occupant of such premises
(does not eradicate and remove such dirt, rubbish, weeds, rank
or dirt, rubbish, weeds, rank growth and vegetation from such stye is
within ten days after the service of the notice as prescribed in
Section 3 of this Ordinance, the Board of Trustees shall order
dirt, rubbish, weeds, rank growth or vegetation to be eradicated
and removed in the same manner as other public work on the public
streets is performed. The cost of such work shall be ascertained,

1 and the City Clerk shall demand in writing from the owner, lessee

13 defined to mean dead trees and shrubs, as well as any other use

16 SECTION 7. Ordinance 96 of the City of Anaheim, entitled "An
17 Ordinance to Provide For the Eradication and Removal of Grass, Weeds
18 and Other Vegetation From the Streets of the City of Anaheim," an
19 all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith
20 are hereby repealed.
21 - SECTION S. Should any Section, sub—section, sentence or clause
22 of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or void, the Board
23 of Trustees hereby declares that it would have passed every other
24 section, sub—section, sentence or clause hereof, irrespective of
25 said portion so declaxed void.
26 SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
27 this Ordinance, and cause the same to be published once in the
28 "Anaheim Gazette", a weekly newspaper of general circulation, pub-
29 lished and circulated in the City of Anaheim, and thereupon and
30 thereafter, it shall take effect, and be in full force.
