CALL TO ORDER–Chairman Crawfordcalled the meeting to order at 5.34p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES–Chairman Crawfordpresented the October 26, 2011 Minutes to the Commissioners
forchanges or corrections. There being none, Chairman Crawfordaccepted the minutes as presented.
ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.Recreation and Human ServicesUpcoming Special EventsReport–Lynn Smithpresented the report.
B.Recreation and Human Services Park Ranger Report–Lynn Smith presented the report and answered
questions from the commissioners regarding Park Ranger statistics.
C.Parks Activity Report–Larry Pasco stated the new contractors started on October 3, 2011 and are making
progress in becoming familiar with each park’s specifications.Larry Pasco presented the report and
answered questions from the commissioners regarding the new contractors.
Commissioner Brennan inquired ifthe City is receiving the appropriate level of service through contractor
staffing with the reduction of costs. Larry Pasco stated the new contractors have focused their attention on
gaining familiarity with the parks and addressing any existing deficiencies. Larry Pasco further indicated the
landscape specifications that contractors will function under include increased maintenance frequencies
which will improve the overall condition of the parks, and in particular, our sports fields.
D.Parks Capital Project Progress Report–Pamela Galera reportedthe City of Anaheim has been nominated
by the US Green Building Council, Orange County Chapter for the Inaugural Eco-City Award. The final
interview will be held on January 4, 2012 and will be awarded on January 6, 2012. The City of Anaheim is in
the top 3 cities competing forthis award.

Pamela Galera presented the report and provided updates on the following projects:
Anaheim Coves(Burris Basin)–The dedication ceremony was heldon November 15, 2011and is now
open to the community.
Cerritos Property–State grant staff held a second interview with City staff onNovember 15.

Platinum Necklace (Connectivity Plan)–“Anaheim Outdoors Connectivity Plan”have scheduled public
meetings for: December 10at 10 a.m. (Anaheim Coves);and December 13at 6:30 p.m. (City Hall,

Lobby/1Floor).

SCE Dog Park –Staff met with SCE staff on November 30regarding the property on Cerritos Avenue

and State College Boulevard.
Guinida Lane–A small grant was awarded to design and build a small pocket park. A second
community meeting will be scheduled.
Miraloma–Staff is proceeding with the designandconstruction documents for this project. Staff is
negotiating a contract to hire a consultant to complete a constructability review and commissioning for
LEED certification.
Platinum Triangle Park –No funding to pursue an adult sports soccer/baseball/softball facility.
Ponderosa Community Center–State grant staff helda second interview with City staff on November
15.

Ross Park Expansion –Soil remediationcontinues to be completed. Staff is workingwithAnaheim
FamilyYMCAfor a possible joint-use on the property.
E.Senior Citizen Sub-Committee Report-Commissioner Huitt reportedthe Health and Nutrition Committee
completed a survey to determine what activities and programs seniors would like to have. Commissioner
Huitt reported seniors’ most interest is in transportation and meals assistance, and the least interest is free
talks that are available on elder abuse issues. Commissioner Huitt statedthe Legislative Committee is
working to assist with seniors obtaining listening devicesand the Friends of Outreach program provides
volunteers for senior programs.Commissioner Huitt shared a flyer of the services offered through the City of
Irvine.
