A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER
OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE ANAHEIM POLICE
ASSOCIATION AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Police Association have met and
conferred to reach an agreement concerning Post-Retirement Medical Benefits; and
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Police Association is in agreement with the recommendation
contained in said Letter of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated November 20, 2001
between the parties has been prepared and signed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best interest
of the City of Ariahelm to approve said Letter of Understanding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that
the Letter of Understanding dated November 20, 2001 between the Anaheim Police Association
and the City of Anaheim, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference
herein, is hereby approved.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the

and the
CITY OF ANAHEIM
The Anaheim Police Association (APA), and the City of Anaheim (ANAHEIM) have met and
conferred and have reached an agreement concerning Post-Retirement Medical benefits. The PARTIES
have reached an understanding, as follows:
1. APA and ANAHEIM agree that Article 60.5.5.4 of the Memorandum of Understanding between the
PARTIES dated January 19, 2001 through January 13, 2005 is amended as follows:
60.5.5.4
An employee who has completed twenty (20) consecutive years of service with
ANAHEIM as a sworn Police Officer and who has prior service as a sworn
Police Officer with another California law enforcement agency shall receive up
to three (3) years of additional service credit for the purpose of calculating
ANAHEIM's contribution towards post-retirement medical benefits. An
employee who has completed twenty (20) consecutive years of service with
ANAHE/M as a sworn Police Officer and who has prior service as a sworn
Police Officer with ANAHEIM shall receive additional service credit equal to all
prior ANAHEIM service for the purpose of calculating ANAHE/M's contribution
towards post-retirement medical benefits. Such service credit shall be
provided on the basis of one full quarter of service credit for each full quarter
of prior service. An em!31ovee who has com!31eted twenty (20) consecutive
vears of service with ANAHEIM who has sick leave hours available for
PERS service credit in accordance with Article 43 of this Aclreement mav
elect instead to use those hours for additional service credit for the
DunDose of calculatino ANAHEIM's contribution towards f3ost-retirement
medical benefits under the 13rovisions of this Article. ANAHEIM and APA
agree that this provision shall remain in effect through January 13, 2005.
