A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FOR GRANT
FUNDS FROM THE MOBILE SOURCE AIR
POLLUTION REDUCTION REVIEW COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the South Coast Air Quality Management District
has adopted rules requiring public agencies within the District to
convert their fleets to alternative fuels; and
WHEREAS, alternative fuels include liquified and
compressed natural gas; and
WHEREAS, the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review
Committee (MSRC) has available to it some two million dollars in
funding for local agencies to convert heavy duty public vehicle
fleets to alternative fuel operation and to construct public access
alternative fuel dispensing facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and Taormina Industries are
working cooperatively to build a new L/CNG (Liquified/Compressed
Natural Gas) public access fueling facility in the City of Anaheim as
previously approved by the City Council and have raised substantial
grant funds for that purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim that, for the reasons he re inabove set forth, the City
Council hereby approves the submission of a grant application to the
MSRC for (1) funding for the purchase of a new street sweeper powered
by alternative fuel, and (2) funding for the design and construction
of a public access L/CNG fueling facility, in compliance with the
grant submission requirements of the MSRC.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 8th day of January, 2002.
