2002-006RESOLUTION NO. 2002R-6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, TO FILE AN ELECTRONIC GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FY 2002 "STATE CRIMINAL ALIEN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SCAAP) ," AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF TO EXECUTE ALL REQUIRED GRANT DOCUMENTS WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to participate in a grant program designated "State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP)," to be funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, hereafter referred to as U.S. DOJ; and WHEREAS, the "State Criminal Alien Assistance Program" grant pays state and local law enforcement agencies for costs incurred for incarceration of criminal aliens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as follows- 1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit an electronic grant application to the U.S. DOJ, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for the "State Criminal Alien Assistance Program' for financial assistance with costs incurred while housing undocumented criminal aliens at the Anaheim Police Detention Facility, and to execute, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, all required grant documents, including any extensions and amendments thereof. 2. Jurisdictions are allowed to use SCAAP funds for any lawful purpose. Grant funds received hereunder shall be used for the purchase and/or upgrade of equipment and technology needs in the Police Department's Detention Facility. The foregoing resolution is approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 8th day of January 2002.
