RES-2013-132RESOLUTION NO 2013- 132 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION, GENERAL UNIT, AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, and the Anaheim Municipal Employees Association, General Unit, have met and conferred and reached an understanding to establish an agreement on "Employee Seniority "; and WHEREAS, the Anaheim Municipal Employees Association, General Unit, is in agreement with the recommendation contained in said Letter of Understanding; and WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated August 1, 2013, between the parties has been prepared and signed; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best interest of the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Letter of Understanding dated August 1, 2013, between the Anaheim Municipal Employees Association, General Unit, and the City of Anaheim, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference herein, is hereby approved. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 20 day of August, 2013 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Mayor Tait, Council Members Eastman, MUrray, Brandman and Kring NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None (/"- �7 MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ATTEST: CITY CLERK OF THE t - y OF ANA EIM LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING between the ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION and the CITY OF ANAHEIM The Anaheim Municipal Employees Association (AMEA), General Unit, and the City of Anaheim (ANAHEIM) have met and conferred in good faith and reached an agreement as to the method for determining employee seniority. The PARTIES agree that in any employment circumstance, e.g. layoffs, shift selection, annual vacation bidding, etc., where two (2) or more employees have the same seniority, the employee's last name on file with the Human Resources Department, at the time AMEA representatives are notified of the change in employment circumstance, shall be used as a tie - breaker using alphabetical order with the employee whose last name appears in the alphabet first being the tie - breaker. The PARTIES agree to the following term and conditions: 1. If an employee has a hyphenated name (e.g. "Doe — Smith "), the first name shall be used (e.g. "Doe "), and then the second name if necessary. 2. If the employees have the same last name, the employee's first name and then middle name shall be used.
