A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AND FILE A BICYCLE /PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES
CLAIM APPLICATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1985 -86
WITH THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION
PURSUANT TO SENATE BILL NO. 821.
WHEREAS, in 1973, the California State Legislature
amended the Transportation Development Act by the adoption of
Senate Bill No. 821 which provides that two percent (2 %) of each
County's total Local Transportation Fund be set aside annually
and be made available to the cities and counties for facilities
provided for the exclusive use of pedestrians and bicycles; and
WHEREAS, the County of Orange has planned a bikeway
system in conformance with specifications of the California
Highway Design Manual and the Regional Transportation Plan, as
identified in the County of Orange Master Plan of Bikeways; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to be the lead
agency in constructing a link in the County of Orange master
bikeway system within the City of Anaheim utilizing the funds
available under Senate Bill No. 821; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Ana River Trail Bikeway facility is
identified as a specific project within the County of Orange
Master Plan of Bikeways.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim does hereby express its desire and
willingness to participate in the proposed project for the
construction of bicycle facility improvements pursuant to Senate
Bill No. 821 and in accordance with procedures adopted by the
Orange County Transportation Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the
City of Anaheim be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute and
file on behalf of the City of Anaheim a Bicycle /Pedestrian
Facilities Claim Application for the Fiscal Year 1985 -86 with
the Orange County Transportation Commission pursuant to Senate
Bill No. 821 to apply for regional funds available for bikeways
and pedestrian facilities.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted
this 10th day of September , 1985.
