A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ADOPTING A POLICY
TO PRIORITIZE THE FUNDING OF ADDITIONAL
POLICE OFFICERS
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim's most fundamental purpose is to provide for
the safety of the public it serves; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has consistently delivered first class, full service,
professional police services to its residents, businesses and visitors; and
WHEREAS, it is a priority of the City of Anaheim to invest in and ensure a safe
community by providing a robust police force; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is committed to recruiting and training the best
and brightest police officer candidates, and therefore finds that it is in the best interest of the City
to adopt the following policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim that the City of Anaheim hereby adopts a policy to prioritize the funding, as part of the
annual budget process, for ten (10) additional police officers each fiscal year for the next four years
beginning with fiscal year 2014 -15, provided there are sufficient General Fund resources available
to fund such positions.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim this 1 Oth day of June , 2014 by the following roll call vote.
AYES: Mayor Tait, Council Members Eastman, Murray, Brandman and Kring
