CALL TO ORDER:
1. The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:38 p.m. by Vice Chair
Cudd; Chair Henninger arrived 15 minutes later and apologized for the delay. Thanking Vice-Chair Cudd, he
proceeded with the meeting.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:
5.Board Member Barnett made a motion to approve the minutes for the
September 18, 2014, meeting; Board Member Zlaket seconded the motion which passed.
NEW BUSINESS:

A.August-September Activity Report: Joe Perez reviewed and highlighted events and activities that took
place within the Recreation, Human Services and Neighborhood Services Division. No questions were
asked from the Board.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
7.
FY 2015/2016Public Service Funding Process: Board Members reviewed each of the 21 applications they
received for consideration of funding and debated their merits. Although they agreed that all of the agencies
provide exceptional service to the community, they discussed how best to distribute funds fairly among three
funding categories that help support: children from at-risk environments, senior citizens/vulnerable elderly, and
low-and moderate-income families. The Board agreed to take into consideration agencies who donot have as
many funding resources from outside donors and whose fund raising ability is limited.

After extensive deliberation by Board Members and keeping within a 30% range for each of the three
categories discussed previously, Board Member Murphy made a motion to approve the preliminary funding
recommendation on each level of potential funding listed below. Board Member Kelso seconded the motion;
the motion passed unanimously.

Joe Perez reported that the calendar for CSB Meetings in November and December required a decision on
whether the Board wished to meet during these months. Joe added that no official business was pending and
the CSB traditionally goes dark in November and December. Vice-Chair Henninger stated that he would like
the Board to go dark in November and December but would also like to host a social gathering Thursday,

December 11 with invitations arriving via email. A motion to go dark in November and December 2014 was
made by Board Member Murphy and was seconded by Board Member Barnett; the motion passed.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
8. : Vice Chair Cudd reported that the Bowers Museum will present an exhibit of

- 19 until March 15, 2015. Vice Chair
Cudd stated that the exhibit was fascinating and she encouraged everyone to go see it!

Board Oktoberfest starts on Saturday, October 11. A large

25 piece German band will perform; and on Saturday, October 18 there will be dancers, and gentleman
playing the Alpenhorn. Board Member Beas added that the Historical Society Members will be touring the
th
Anaheim Cemetery on Friday, November 15.
