2002-155RESOLUTION NO. 2002R-155 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO SUBMIT AN ELECTRONIC GRANT APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, FOR THE FY 2002 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANTS PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to purchase equipment and technology to improve communications between the station and the patrol units, and upgrade other police department equipment as grant funding is available; and WHEREAS, the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program makes funds available for the purchase of equipment, technology and other materials directly related to basic law enforcement functions; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to apply for Block Grant funds for the purpose of procuring equipment and technology. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as follows: The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit an electronic grant application for Block Grant Funds in the amount of $367,298 to the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, and to execute on behalf of the City of Anaheim all required grant documents, including any extensions and amendments thereof. The City of Anaheim agrees to provide matching funds in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the overall costs of the equipment and technology, or $40,803. The grant funds received hereunder shall be used for the purchase/upgrade of police department equipment as grant funds are available, and shall be used to supplement, and not to supplant, local funding. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 18th day of June., 2002.
