A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION AND THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR 2014 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT
PROGRAM, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
ANAHEIM FIRE CHIEF TO EXECUTE ALL REQUIRED
GRANT DOCUMENTS, AND AMENDING THE FIRE GRANT
FUND BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2015/2016
ACCORDINGLY
WHEREAS, the Office of Domestic Preparedness of the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security (the "Grantor") has heretofore invited public agencies, including the City of Anaheim,
to submit applications to the Grantor for the Fiscal Year 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant
Program (the "Grant"); and
WHEREAS, on April 16, 2015, the Fire Chief of the City of Anaheim, by and through his
designee, submitted an application on behalf of the City of Anaheim to the Grantor for said
Grant, which application sought Grant funds for two separate programs, the Home Safety Visit
Program and the Ready, Set, Go! Program (the "Projects"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is familiar with the terms, conditions and limitations
of any such Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is willing and able to conform to each of the terms,
conditions and limitations imposed upon the City of Anaheim pursuant to said Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has been awarded, and the Fire Chiefs designee has
accepted, Grant funds for the Projects in the amount of Three Hundred Nine Thousand Five
Hundred Twenty Four Dollars ($309,524.00), with a requirement that the City provide Fifteen
Thousand Four Hundred Seventy Six ($15,476.00) in matching funds, for a total of Three
Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($325,000.00) to be dedicated to the Projects; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend the annual budget of the Fire Grant Fund
by Three Hundred Nine Thousand Five Hundred Twenty -Four Dollars ($309,524.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim
as follows:
1. The submission of the application for the Grant by the Fire Chief on behalf of the
City of Anaheim, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, to the
Grantor is hereby ratified and approved.
2. The acceptance of Grant funds by the Fire Chief, by and through his designee, is
hereby ratified and approved.
3. The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby agrees to accept any and all
Grant funds awarded to the City of Anaheim without further action of the City Council being
required therefore.
4. The City of Anaheim hereby agrees to comply with each and all of the terms,
conditions and limitations imposed by the Grantor upon said Grant, and the Anaheim Fire Chief,
or his designee, is hereby authorized and directed to execute any agreements, assurances, or
other documents as may be necessary in connection with the acceptance and implementation of
the Grant.
5. The annual budget of the of the Fire Grant Fund for Fiscal Year 2015/2016 shall
be amended by increasing the appropriations and authorized expenditures by Three Hundred
Nine Thousand Five Hundred Twenty -Four Dollars ($309,524.00). The Grant requires that the
City pay matching funds equal to five percent (5%) of the cost of each Project (a total of
$15,476.00), and these funds are included in the Fire Department's adopted 2015/2016 budget.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim this 6thday of October , 2015, by the following roll call vote:
