RES-2008-062A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, LOCAL NO. 2899 AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899 have met and conferred and reached an agreement to modify portions of Article 35.7 (Vacation) of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parties; and WHEREAS, the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899 is in agreement with the recommendation contained in said Letter of Understanding; and WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated May 2, 2008 between the parties has been prepared and signed; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best interest of the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Letter of Understanding dated May 2, 2008 between the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899 and the City of Anaheim, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein, is hereby approved. DOC The City of Anaheim (ANAHEIM) and the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local 2899 (AFA) have met and conferred in good faith and reached an agreement to modify certain provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parties dated July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2009. The Parties hereby agree to the following: Article 35.7 of the Memorandum of Understanding is amended as follows: 35.7 An employee shall bc eligible on an annual basis to bc compensated at his or her regular hourly rate of pay for up to one (1) wcck (40 hours)-ef- vasatien accrued but not taken, subject to the following provisions: An employee may request to be compensated for accrued vacation hours at any time throughout the year subject to the following provisions: 35.7.1 35.7.2 cv LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING between the ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, LOCAL 2899 and the CITY OF ANAHEIM previous payroll year. The employee must have used a minimum of forty (40) hours of vacation during the preceding twelve (12) months. of the Fire Chief. The employee's vacation balance cannot drop below eighty (80) hours as a result of the request. 35.7.3 The Fire Chief or the Chiefs designee must approve the respective employee's request for vacation Dav -off.
