RESOLUTION NO. 97R -109
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE
TO SUBMIT A GRANT PROPOSAL ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM IN CONNECTION WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE
ASSISTANCE, LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK
GRANTS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to purchase mobile personal
computers, radios and mounting brackets to replace the mobile data terminals
in patrol cars, upgrade hardware and acquire software to improve
communications between the station and the patrol units and introduce the
capability of paperless field report writing; and
WHEREAS, the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program makes
funds available for the purchase of equipment, technology and other
materials directly related to basic law enforcement functions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to apply for Block Grant
funds for the purpose of procuring the equipment, technology, and other
material described above;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim as follows:
1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby authorized,
on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit a proposal for Block
Grant Funds in the amount of $560,690.00 to the United States
Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, and to
execute on behalf of the City of Anaheim all required grant
documents, including any extensions and amendments thereof.
2. The City of Anaheim agrees to provide matching funds in the
amount of ten percent (10 of the overall cost of the project,
or $56,069.00.
3. The grant funds received hereunder shall be used for the purchase
of mobile personal computers, radios and mounting brackets and
other equipment to improve communications between the station and
the patrol units and to introduce the capability of paperless
field report writing, and shall be used to supplement, and not to
supplant, local funding.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Anaheim this 8th day of July ,1997.
